Well, when you have 100 "people" donating more than me on one "team".... and at the very top 3 are well over a million pts per day Boinc.... That is 3 guys each producing more than XS in its entireity

I would guess that they will be top of the pile in 2 years.

...all by offering a proportion of 1,000,000 shares a day depending on your contribution (there are 100 Billion shares in total, 55 billion of which will be given away for work such as this)
    yesterdays stats:
    6,726 users
    5,138 points average per user
148 shares given to the average user but the top guy takes 49,055 shares on this day

Value of a share= ??? nothing until, like bitcoin, there is a market.

Great that they involve WCG....More science gets done by the mercenary types who would otherwise probably not bother, but I question how many of these guys will stick once they see their electricity bill.

Huh, that's crazy. Guys pay for Amazon cloud to get top ranks and make XRPs via WCG now.
OK, it's work done for WCG but... I completely agree with MM (checked the Ripple Labs team forum on WCG)... We do this thing voluntary (and a bit of fun).. but once any sort of money steps into such things it can ruin the principles/motivations...
    Never ever Ripple.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out this "Ripple" is a way of creating a currency for illegitimate purposes. Pour huge amounts of cash into creating these "Ripples" which serve as an anonymous currency on markets like Silk Road.

Actually, I remember a guy coming into this very forum a while back asking for people to volunteer their systems to crunch for his FOR profit organisation (selling computing resources to whomever wanted it), claiming they donated proceeds to charity and would reward crunchers with "gifts" ie paid crunching. There may have even been a couple of people, lacking any genuine altruistic bone in their body, who left to join.

I view Ripple Lab's daily WCG points generated with mixed feelings...

I am ecstatic from their massive daily contributions to humanitarian research but a bit sad to see the grievance it will cause to their members when the "Ripple" currency value fails to materialize or sustain itself Hopefully they will find comfort in having earned a sapphire WCG badge or two....

At two hundred and twenty million points per day I suspect it will be more than a few badges!

To really make it work you have to be a rich speculator.

based on the bitcoin exchange rate today, a $580,000 investment now (in 4000 threads) would put you top of the stack and make probably $1,600 a day so break even in a year. With those sorts of figures I can see this getting a bunch more folks involved. It is the old get in at the beginning story though.
