Version 5 of the bios mods for Extreme 6 bios 2.60 and Extreme 4 bios 2.80.

    Changes:

    - updated Intel storage option ROM and 'SATAdriver' to 12.6.0.1867

    Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 2.80 modded: http://db.tt/kPuPM09G
    Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 2.60 modded: http://db.tt/VKS77DOy

(modded based on latest bios versions)

    Windows Driver:
Intel AHCI driver 12.6.0.1028 (self extracting archive containing 32-bit and x64 drivers, manual install required through device manager): http://db.tt/dtkgpm7e

    Other Stuff:
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yvo0u5lrac3whv2/j3Uhlqc9j8

Remember to take note of any changes you have made to the bios before flashing. This is regardless of whether you use just standard ROM's or modded ROM's, as CMOS settings are defaulted upon updating.

I'll have a look at that in the next couple of days. I believe some of the modules are different so I would have to chase down the latest.

Asrock updated the Extreme 6 bios to 2.70, so here is the 2.70 mod. The mod includes all the updates modules as the 2.60 mod version 5. Since it is a new bios version, it goes back to version 1 of the mod (as it is version 1 for the 2.70 bios).

Asrock only updated the Extreme 6 bios (so far at least). Once (if) a new version of the Extreme 4 bios is released (say, version 2.90) I will mod and upload that, the same goes with any newer version of the Extreme 6 bios.

Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 2.60 modded: http://db.tt/hQ8eMAsm (updated due to new Asrock bios release)
Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 2.80 modded: http://db.tt/kPuPM09G (remains unchanged to before as currently no new bios release)

    Windows Intel AHCI Driver:
Intel AHCI driver 12.6.0.1028 (self extracting archive containing 32-bit and x64 drivers, manual install required through device manager): http://db.tt/dtkgpm7e

I haven't been able to read many posts in here but to clear up one of the most recent ones I read; I've been SCREAMING it and yet you guys STILL ignore it, the Z77E6 like all other boards I have tested (P67E4, Z68E4) LOVE G.Skill memory, buy some G.Skill and watch these boards fly. In other news I'm still in contact with my asrock contacts so if anyone is having any issues post here and notify me by PM (I'm always busy so its best to give me a prod)

Updated the mod to incorporate the new Intel RAID/AHCI ROMS version 12.7.0.1910.

Asrock Extreme 4 bios NOT updated, because when both the new Intel modules were added, no other modules could be added (MMTool threw an error). Because of this, I wasn't confident in that the bios is 100 percent working.

Now, there were no such issues with the Extreme 6 bios.

For all those who used the Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 bios (either original or modded), you might have noticed the new Asrock logo. It's crap, it's just plain solid 1 tone grey black and white! (still says Asrock). They are still using this snorefest logo on the Z87 boards, I think it looks quite ugly. So, I replaced it with the much nicer old green shaded logo as found on bios version 2.60 and earlier.

Updated tp Intel ROM & Satadriver 12.7.0.1936.

Again, no Extreme 4 version. It still doesn't want to update the Satadriver for the Extreme 4, it comes up with a sizing issue once all the ROMs are added.

How those sizing issues usually surface? About total image size or individual file sizes in bios image? And i wonder if those limits cannot be risen with some help from asrock side?

I have no idea! Just that with the last two ROM updates, the Extreme 4 bios just wouldn't want to mod (it would either crash mmtool or come up with errors). This is including doing the mod fresh from the start. I had tried adding them first and it worked, but then I couldn't add the other bios items! Interesting that it affects the Extreme 4 and not the Extreme 6 bios though. That said, the Extreme 6 bios is actually newer, v2.60 was released the same time as Extreme 4 v2.80, and now it is v2.70. Maybe they made a change to the bios that allows this to work? who knows!

On a separate note, really hate the new Asrock logo (single tone black and white), it looks particularly crappy when booting in UEFI mode. The multi-toned green logo is much nicer. Not sure why they changed it with the latest bioses, including the z87 boards.

http://db.tt/kPuPM09G says has original and modded does that mean the installer has both you just select? and do i need to get a flasher or this has it built in? im getting the board saturday

It includes both the original file and the modded file, so when you install copy both and install the one with the 'M' at the end (the modded one). To install, you can copy the images to a USB flash drive, formatted in FAT32 (which is standard), and enter the bios flash either directly during startup or by entering the bios. It really is a simple process

Now, are you actually getting a Z77 Extreme 4, for running say an i5-3570K or i5-2500K, or is it the Z87 Extreme 4 for Haswell CPU's, for example an i5-4670K. The bios mod is only for Z77 Extreme 4 (or Z77 Extreme 6 in the other link).

my only gripe with my z77e4 is that the volume isn't as loud as on my asus sabertooth (RIP). other than that, everything is great, especially after i updated the bios which decreased the amount of time spent in post significantly

    pci-e not working above 8x.

I've had a z77 extreme4 for the past few months, and the only issue i've had is that no matter what the pci-e slots won't work above 8x (nvidia 660ti). I've tried both slots, and neither work above 8x (in pci-e 2 spec in bios, or 3). I've tried at least 4 different bios and none of them correct the issues (granted running at 8x doesn't drop my performance in the slightest... just bugs me it's not running at 16x). Any thoughts?

    pc specs:
    i5 3570k @ 4.4ghz
    corsair ram @ 2000mhz
    samsung 830 SSD
    nvidia 660ti

BTW, speaking about size limitations for bioses and files within. I wonder if limit is on total size, and if it is, on total compressed or total uncompressed size, or it's on individual extracted files in bios image. Or maybe even it's limit introduced byf extracting/assembling software we use?
At very least compressed size of 4.28MB of current 2.80 bios is less then 4.53MB of 2.10 & 1.80 versions.

BTW, 2.90 for E4 is out, nothing yet for E6. I wonder though, if only change is "Change Internet Flash server", why image is 100KB smaller. That's one heck of a long URL to old internet site hosting bios updates i'd say

I've uploaded the new modded bioses for the Z77 Extreme 4 and Extreme 6.

UPDATES ROMS in this version compared to the last version:
    • Asmedia ROM (0.954 vs the updated 0.951)
    • Broadcom LAN ROM (16.01 vs the updated 15.4)
    • and Intel LAN ROM (was not updated before)

    Existing updated ROMS:
    • Intel AHCI/RAID and satadriver (version 12.7.0.1936)
    • Intel VGA driver (2158)

Same issue with the Extreme 4 with this bios as with the recent bioses, the Intel 'satadriver' non-option ROM doesn't replace, but it does with the Extreme 6. So, for the Extreme 4, only the option ROM is updated to 12.7.0.1936.
Also replaced the new crappy small single tone grey boot logo (Asrock) with the much nicer old, larger, multi-shaded green logo (Asrock).

    Download:
    Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 - http://db.tt/E7sQDRck
    Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 - http://db.tt/zK6xvjEe

Includes the modded bios (with M at the end) and the originals.

Other stuff can be found here:

Try the Intel AHCI 12.8.0.1008 driver:

    hi,

    just installed the extreme6 this weekend, everything is working ok, testing now 2500k@4.6Ghz 1.30v / samsung 30nm 2x4gb 2133mhz 10-10-10 1.45v.

i've noticed that after shutdown, some of my usb devices remain switched on... so I thought that the board would have a +5vsb jumper to change the standby mode, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone knows how to resolve this? (are bios options available? I already turned off the every "wake-on" option)

    Extreme4 Z77 - GUID Issue

    Hi,

Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue.

Basically im using 2 x Extreme4 Z77 motherboards with VMWare ESXi 5.1 as a test lab. The motherboards are working fine however some virtualisation networking software ( Cisco Nexus 1000v ) which i use as a virtual switch will not work in a high availabilty pair due to the fact that the motherboards have the same GUID. Other people seem to have this issue with Asrock MBs. I followed the details in the forum and its failing. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue and if so were you able to fix it.

    http://forums.penny-arcade.com/discu...-a-motherboard

    Thanks for your time.

You can ignore this request - I contacted Asrock support and they sent me an update Bios with the fix. Very impressed with the support.
