OK then folks ..... As of 2300 BST today I have switched my rig "Arachnid" over to 1.S. (using the command line in linux and the:

    boinccmd --project http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org detach
    boinccmd --project_attach http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org 681782_2df3fe53ee2df6da1a8c26b35b2a859a
    from Bluestang's post above)

The rig is not overclocked and has only had a day running to test but should be good for 32 days per day (less any overhead) it has been running a big variation in times per wu at between 3.07 and 4.89hrs making it difficult to estimate how much work is in cache in days

I have a gut feeling that the 1 + 8 is wrong and that it should be 8 +1 but not sure why. Comments?

    Thoughts:

This may be more than is needed so folks might consider jumping to mumak on gfam if needed

A fast completion might allow for ability to jump before hpf2 ends so we might still get wu's for that if people need them

(I am still not really clear on who needs what just now)

Local cache here is set for 1 + 8 and I will watch that to get a feel for what is needed and if the change mentioned above is required

Old Chap, thanks for the offer, but I don't think there's enough time to get to Sapphire on HPF2 for me. So feel free to donate to someone else.

One Shot, I got my i5 rig "Oysterhead" going today. Yesterday I got stuck doing a major re-org in the apt to accommodate the window A/C unit. This shoebox only has 3 electrical outlets in the main room.
    Desktop rigs:
    Oysterhead- Intel i5-2320 CPU@3.0Ghz, Zalman 9500AT2, 8Gb Patriot 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM, 120Gb Kingston V200+ SSD, 1Tb Seagate HD, Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon 64 bit, LG 330W PSU

Ironically I already have 2 UPS units in the main room. Yeah, its either get another battery for my dead UPS(#3) or start daisy chaining in the main room. I had to unsnarl a couple of daisy chains in the kitchen when I moved in though, since it only has two outlets.

I'm also looking into 15-25 foot electrical cords for future expansion of my computer patch. I wish they sold longer cords with UPS's.

    EXPERIMENT WITH CACHE

I was set up with 1+8 in line with comments in the posts above. This gave me ~ 30 hours of work in cache for each thread..... certainly not a full cache!

I changed to 2+7 on a hunch and now I have ~52 hours of cache for each thread

I believe we should all set our cache for 8 days Minimum Work Buffer locally, using Boincmanager>Tools>Computing Preferences>Network Usage

Yojimbo, As of tomorrow there will be 10 days left for HPF2. If you add to this an extra 6 days of cache crunching ( 8 to 9 more likely available); then you have 16 days of HPF2 crunching left to get your HPF2 sapphire. You already have the HPF2 emerald badge and thus you need a maximun of 365 days runtime to reach HPF2 sapphire. This means that 365 / 16 = 22.8 cores are needed to get the job done. If we round this up, all you need to muster to reach your HPF2 emerald badge is 24 cores crunching HPF2 for you for the next 16 days. Our XS team will easily exceed this minimum 24 cores requirement if you decide to go for it. Don't give up on the HPF2 sapphire badge. Ask your XS team members for support and go for it. Be Xtreme...

Well if you put it that way...I could use 18 cores(I donated 8 already). My weak key is: 810865_7cc58999341cfc7d08cff74114295ec4

As soon as I finish helping 1.S. I can put this rig on it. We just have to complete his before the end of hpf2.

Alternately I could stay with 1.S. and try the same (just thinking aloud here)

    1.S; Current days needed please.

I think you now have 52 cores running... just not showing in free-dc yet

Edit: This cache set at 7 days but currently holding ~200 days in total for you =6.25 rig days work

    Another 35 days today!

Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2
    1:158:10:12:35

    That leaves 207 days - 25 days PVs = 182 days.
    With 35 cores (Snow Crash 11 + fallwind 12 + my 12)

    So about 5.5 days

Great news Yojimbo, I will be over to help you as soon as I get sapphire for HPF2 if you still need help then... Likely will join your quest on the 4 or 5 June 2013 with up to 28 cores as needed by you then.

    Good luck,

GFAM now @ 1:035 and my caches set to 10 + 0.1 (10 days is the deadline for GFAM tasks).
So with Rob's and Yeroon's help I think I should reach the target. Will let you know guys when I think it's secured, so you can detach and help others if needed.

That is a great system, OC. I would love a system like that, but always end up thinking that 2 or more small systems are more flexible for me.

Wanted to see if a duallie could get close to 2 overclocked 3770K's.... and I guess I want to see the difference in build cost offset by lower power bills. The only problem has been that affordable es cpu's are not very fast....well they can be but I maybe jumped too soon. Lastly, I wanted to have another portable rig.

How much power does it use? That could be interesting when it is run over a long time. With the energy prices in the UK and the Netherlands that is always some thing to look at.

Maybe portable is a relative term ....at the other house everything except my air cooled quad were attached to the MOAF central cooling system

Should I put wheels on it for you?

I reached 1 year and Emerald on HPF2 and I'm satisfied with that. The chances of getting Sapphire are slim and I'd rather see those WUs go towards another cruncher's goal.

0ne.shot: looks like we need to get to the 1 year before Gfam finishes to be absolutely sure of badging. That is provided your helpers have 7 or 8 day Minimum Work Buffer caches. I know you set that globally but I would like your helpers to check they set it locally too.

I see your 2700K and a6, my rig and another 2600K and an i5 2320 helping...That is 56 cores. I am hoping that 2 days will get us there (1 year) with a day to spare before the work dries up.... after that we will only have the 56 cores times 7 days = 390ish days work on our machines to get that badge. The key is the end day for GFAM !!!..... Should be good to go though

I have some other news for you. With some careful planning and a bit of luck with the days left to run on HPF2 I think that with the guys helping you on GFAM you can also get your sapphire for that.

    How about it helpers?
