I know it's tough with our Swiss friend backing off for the summer but lets kick this into high gear and get to number one in the dailies and start the long overtake of team 2ch!

I finally upgraded my main workstation and almost doubled the daily output from that one machine, but as long as I stay loyal to AMD processors, I will still only be at about 75% of the individual unit potential. The upgrade from the 6990 to the 7990 was worth about 130,000 additional points per day.

    dual 7990's? OMG!
I'd stick those in my 16 core dualie and get 2 million WCG PPD from one machine..

You'd better get closer to 4 million PPD with dual 7990s!

    Supercoolin,

Nice rig but definitely not an optimum crunching rig. 2 * 7970 in Xfire with 12 thread 3930K produce avg 265K BOINC PPD
3 * 7970 in TriFire with 12 thread 3930 produce an avg of 320 BOINC PPD

I do not have daily crunching PPD for a Quad setting but it is likely not optimum due to poor production scaling. Your new rig depicted here has 2 * 7990 in Xfire and produces 189K BOINC PPD with 4 GPUs working. Two rigs using 2 * 7970 in Xfire should produce 530K BOINC PPD. Your main rig it's likely not crunching 24/7. so 189K may not be is max daily PPD. Even with that taken into account there is still a wide PPD production lost with your present set up.

Your AMD CPU with its 8 cores does limit you somewhat but it is not the major culprit. Too many powerful GPUs for only one CPU is what is causing your major PPD producction lost. You lose about 5 to 8% PPD production by going Xfire and about 30 to 35% PPD production by going Tri-fire. With your present 4 GPUs setup you appear to be loosing 50 to 55% PPD production.

The BOINC version you are using 6.10.58 is also somewhat dated.

Your two 7990 video cards need their own dedicated 12 threads or better CPU to reach their Full PPD crunching production...

See, I told him he should send them to me and I'll stick them in the dualie..Hell, I'll even send him my 48 hour old Asus 7850 and that will do all his AMD 8350 can handle..
Either that or I should sell him my X9DAi setup and all he'll need is to go out and buy a measly pair of cpu's for it...

LOL. You guys are hilarious. Why not just send all your CPU stuff to me and let me "take care of it". I will allow visitation - supervised, of course.

Not running it 24/7 right now with @ 1440W electric load. The pair of cards are needed for three 30" monitors and 7680x1600 resolution, max settings, absolutely no artifacts, glitchs, pauses, or hiccups. Generating a couple hundred thousand PPD part time is just an extra benefit from them. But first and foremost, I use this machine all day long so it can't be 100% dedicated to WCG crunching, just the extra used when my normal work is idle. Rendering does take lots of GPU horse power.

Also MM, with the EK waterblocks the pair fit nicely into 4 slots and you still have access to the last PCI-E (4th) slot to install a riser cable and still use the slot.

Only 3 weeks left of gpu work units --- everybody jump in for a last push!!!!

Somehow we need to call out to all the Xtreme team members to run everything they own for the next couple of weeks to get as much out of the remaining GPU work units as we possibly can. Once they are gone our output is going to drop off like a monster big rock. EVERYBODY JUMP ON BOARD PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
