I don't remember what the AB40 kits were in terms of IC/density, but it looks like 2500 is all we're going to get out of these.
I decide to install these into my 24/7 system (i7 3820, P9X79 WS). This is my first time doing any overclocking on this box.

Just noticed this thread and see that the dims are starting to be binned like crap?
Did I miss the bus and they are not worth getting anymore?

Define "binned like crap". They are maxing out around 2500-2550 for these $70 (sale price) 2x4GB kits.
If you want more you'll have to go to the 2600 & 2800 kits...of course, GSkills and their retail partners will want more from you in exchange.

If you can pick them up, look for double sided or else go with the 2600C10 version. What a shame, this 2400C10 is the only decent priced Trident-X kit around.
ToyTen, TRRSR 4 is very nice, this setting nets you a whole lot of bandwidth.

I won this kit in the g.skill oc cup @ hwbot. Can't recommend them. Sure you get ddr3-2400 BUT singleside = bad performance. Plus superloose subtimings, what about trfc way over 200My ripjaws 2133 cl8 have better performance even sub 2000 8-9-8. I strongly agree with Zeus, look for double side or go with 2600 c10.
Overclocking, it's a lifestyle
Well my 3930k degraded at some point during the past week (I can only imagine it was after running LinX or AIDA64 stress test) and it can no longer run 2400 stably with any of my kits...except for these single-sided TridentX. I can only assume the super loose subtimings are the reason why.

Try to load optimized defaults and change settings manually again. Maybe there is a setting you just overlooked?

It's the chip. I had it in my Rampage IV Extreme, swapped it with the 3820 that was in my 24/7 system (P9X79 WS). The 3820+RIVE is clocking the RAM with tight subs fine, the 3930k+P9X79 is still crashing. It's the weirdest thing ever.

I ordered 2 sets to check them out. Probably will get the single sided like everyone else though. Maybe they got some old stock and I will get lucky. If not I will just sale it with my 3930k/board as a bonus. Thanks
Edit: Got single sided samsung "1500".

I ordered two set while they where onsale. one kit single sided, one double. Both samsung and "1500", 2500k wont run over 1140ish so I am running at 1066 to keep it simple, got it at 9-10-11-21 2t @ 1.55v still tweaking. Just omoved from AMD so thing are a little bit different.

So yours are both numbered "1500", but one is single-sided and the other is double-sided? Another fella, tool_462, posted at #177 that he had received a double-sided kit, but he didn't indicate what his serial numbers were.
This number sequence is getting more and more confusing...I think GSkill is trying to mess with our heads.![]()

Yes, but it appears now that some of those (even within the same number sequence) can be double sided. Before the post above I thought that all "1500" were single-sided.

Mine are still sealed in the box. G.Skill what are you trying to do to me? To open or not to open. They should stamp; "A Different Surprise IC In Every Box!" on the cardboard they come in now. I honestly don't think my 2700k will even do the 2400Mhz though. Anyone need two more sets sealed?...........................Thanks
Hotrodsun; Did you get yours from the "EDISON, NJ" warehouse?
Mine came from Baldwin Park, CA. and they also came in blister packs, not cardboard. Yes reefa both label "1500" and one set was single sided and the other was double sided.
Edit: the doubles where manufactured in May 2012 and the singles in June 2012. Might to have start going by the date.

Mine has a date stamp of "July 2012" on my boxes. What is the bet if they are double or single sided? I say single still. Thanks
Hotrodsun; How good does the double sided clock compare to the single sided kits?

To be truthful, didn't even mess with them. Put them in to make sure they worked right back into the package. Probably going to sell them soon. Got a bunch or ram to offload. Didnt even play with the double sided all that much. imc isnt all that strong. Since I dont have and Ivy Bridge probably was a waste to buy these. I have a 2500k that the IMC tops out around 1150mhz. I probably would have been just fine sticking with the pair of samsung ULV that I have. I do admit these do have better timing for the voltage. 9-10-11-21 2t at 1.55v bios, 1.57v with volt meter (1066mhz). plus they look at lot cooler and they match my maximus IV.

I have a set dated May 2012 and it is double sided. I do however have a problem getting the set stable at stock DDR 2400 with stated timings. My system is Maximus V Gene with a 3570K IB at 4.6ghz on custom air cooling. I'm not sure if it may be some sub timings that need to be changed, but I've tried various settings without much success. When I boot up at DDR 2400 Windows 7 64bit would boot up very slow and try to reinstall all of my drivers without much success as it would mostly end up in a blue screen and me having to take the memory speed down and restore Windows to a previous date.
Any ideas what I could do to get the memory to run stock? At present I'm running 2200 with 10 11 11 31 timings and it seems to work.
Double-sided what? Samsung, or Hynix? What are the 5th - 8th digits of the serial number? Also check out post #19 here and see if you can identify the chips from the info here.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...B-1.5V-Ram-Kit
Another question is have you run any memory with this CPU/mobo combo in excess of 2400? May not be the ram, but instead the CPU's IMC that's holding you back.

Pretty sure it's double sided Samsung. Hynix chips have higher density so 4GB Hynix sticks will always be single sided afaik.
