Can someone confirm that disabling C-States hangs disappeared? For me all hangs disappeared but i also did alot of other stuff so im not shure if C-States fixed it.

Crap. Something is really wrong with Windows 8 RP then or some of the drivers are crappy and unstable.

Is it going to be possible to disable Metro come the actual release? If not, i refuse to upgrade. I can't bear the metro interface, it looks crap.

NVidia will fix their driver eventually... OTOH you can use AMD video card - good drivers
I'm on the Win8 since end of February, so I wonder what kind of rubbish is there? I;m aware only on positive moments... As of metro - I'm not visiting it at all unless I need it...![]()

Its due you have AMD Machine (AMD CPU and ATI GPU), AMD drivers actually work
Majority of the problems are related to Intel and nVidia drivers.
EDIT :
Its now confirmed that its Intel SandyBridge, SandyBridge-E and IvyBridge problem, intel released new microcode that fixed bug in microcode that caused problems with some of intel cpu's and Windows 8 RP.
It did not completly fix the problem but mostly did.
Asus released bios update 13th of June for MIVE-Z that might include this new Microcode but didnt do so for MIVE :/

Guys who else has lockups even whit latest drivers and when you have raid0 and you go back to win7 it starts scanning the HDD and leads to corruption at last ???

What are you going on about ???
...
I still haven't had the chance to install this yet.
I see several of you guys are saying it's fast, but to be honest, I don't believe that, I'll have to install it myself I guess.
All I care is if it's on par with win7's speed/latency and bandwith.
I'm in need of it though, this start killer prog in win7 keeps crashing explorer since sp1 came out, in win8 I don't need it since it no longer has a start button that I need to get rid of.
Also need the usb stack updated from win7 sp1...
Edit;
Oh I just remembered, I never checked to see if the photoviewer vga-mem-corruption? bug was still happening.
Ill run some benchmarks vs windows 7 in my i7 2600k test rig, will report here in few hours.

Ok here is Zip file that includes PNG files of Win7 and Win8RP runs with PassMark and Cinebench, Aida64 and many other applications crashed Win8 installation so no results from them.

On the other hand, how great was W2000 RTM out of the box? Or XP? IIRC, both needed some SP's to get mature.
No desktop version of Windows comes close to W7 in that regard (not that it's perfect tho). SP1 was almost underwhelming because everyone was used to get a better OS from SP's, but that only tells us how great it was from the start.
