The windows shuffle is actually kinda nifty. I don't use it as much as I thought I would, but I do think it's a cool feature

Crap. Something is really wrong with Windows 8 RP then or some of the drivers are crappy and unstable.

    I doubt it.
Atm in the RP people are using tools to get the Start button back but it is already known that MS wil remove the code for it completely.

They really seem to want us to use Win8 as is.

NVidia will fix their driver eventually... OTOH you can use AMD video card - good drivers
I'm on the Win8 since end of February, so I wonder what kind of rubbish is there? I;m aware only on positive moments... As of metro - I'm not visiting it at all unless I need it...

That's a relative opinion which is always argued to death.

I've owned both brands and had driver issues with both.

Its due you have AMD Machine (AMD CPU and ATI GPU), AMD drivers actually work
Majority of the problems are related to Intel and nVidia drivers.

    EDIT :
Its now confirmed that its Intel SandyBridge, SandyBridge-E and IvyBridge problem, intel released new microcode that fixed bug in microcode that caused problems with some of intel cpu's and Windows 8 RP.
It did not completly fix the problem but mostly did.
Asus released bios update 13th of June for MIVE-Z that might include this new Microcode but didnt do so for MIVE :/

Seeing as you are not capable from distinguishing the difference between a Start Screen and a UI design i will just have to block you. Seems like i just cant bear your pointless opinion. It makes XS a little less.... XS

What are you going on about ???
    ...

I still haven't had the chance to install this yet.
I see several of you guys are saying it's fast, but to be honest, I don't believe that, I'll have to install it myself I guess.

All I care is if it's on par with win7's speed/latency and bandwith.
I'm in need of it though, this start killer prog in win7 keeps crashing explorer since sp1 came out, in win8 I don't need it since it no longer has a start button that I need to get rid of.
Also need the usb stack updated from win7 sp1...

    Edit;
Oh I just remembered, I never checked to see if the photoviewer vga-mem-corruption? bug was still happening.

Just curious, did W7 beta or RC have high latency as well?

Still my favourite but too dated to use these days. I think it's excluded as it was an NT based OS which ran side-by-side to a 9x based home user OS.

On the other hand, how great was W2000 RTM out of the box? Or XP? IIRC, both needed some SP's to get mature.

No desktop version of Windows comes close to W7 in that regard (not that it's perfect tho). SP1 was almost underwhelming because everyone was used to get a better OS from SP's, but that only tells us how great it was from the start.
