I have a question regarding the Sabertooth Z77 thermal radar fan control. Why can't the the thermal radar fan control use the same levels as fan xpert2? For example, case fans using thermal radar fan control can only go down to 40% while they can go down to 30% in fan xpert2. I prefer to use the thermal radar fan control as it allows me to use the sensors all over the board to regulate the PWM fans as opposed to only CPU temp allowed in fan xpert2. Thanks.

Different hardware on the boards and different teams working on both the hardware and software. That's just the way it is. Fan Xpert II is not for the Sabertooth.

Already enabled, don't think they bothered adding disable to these boards.

No idea, I don't have that kit. Just pick whatever your CPU can run (memory speed makes little difference anyway).

So there is no way to lower the multiplier when idle?

You need to use Vcore offset mode, with SpeedStep for that. Easy enough to configure in UEFI and the OS.

    Hi Raja@ASUS,

running on a P8Z77 WS (BIOS 0703) I've replaced my 3770K with a Xeon E3-1275 v2 and "Multicore Enhancement" is no longer working. Regardless of what you set it, Intel turbo rules are followed. The multi of these CPUs is locked completely and it may be due to this that the feature cannot not get enabled. Is there any chance to have it working in the future? 200MHz more under full load would be a nice gain.

Apart from that WS is just an awesome board, most problem free build I've ever had, great job.

    Thank you.

That's likely your answer right there. The register set has to allow it for us to do it. Multi-core enhance requires that the TDP ratings of the CPU can be over-ridden so that Turbo state can be maintained at higher loads. If that cannot be done, the feature cannot work.

0904 beta bios for maximus gene.

I am having a problem with random black screen with this new beta bios. Seems like its identifying the IGP atleast according to the device manager. Can someone help me out?

Multi monitor off in bios, but a lot of options to play with iGPU are now showing in bios, which were not there before.

I have no updates. It could be that it will only be patched on the WS board.

Need some help here. I'm running a P8Z77 WS with a 3770K. I was having some problems with my OC, so I decided to reset the CMOS using the jumper. That worked.

Now, I have lost my ability to set the Turbo Ratio manually. I used to have it set for "45" to run at 4500. Now, that whole bank of settings is gone. I tried setting the Ai Overclock Tuner setting for "Auto" "Manual" and "XMP". Gone.

The system now runs at 39X under load.

Any idea what happened or how I can get those settings back?

    Reflash the BIOS

Bad news. Tried that and it didn't work. I even downgraded to a previous BIOS, then re-flashed to the current.
    No change.

Tried pulling the battery, clearing CMOS again. This is nuts.

Looking further in the BIOS, all the settings about configuring the PCIE are missing as well. Used to be you could select your default graphics to be the PCIE card or the iGPU and then tweak some of that.

That's all missing as well. Somehow, the board doesn't recognize the chip anymore as being unlocked or having an iGPU.

Oddly, the "Internal PLL Overvoltage" option disappeared as well.

Now in the RMA process with ASUS.

In the meantime, is there any way to reprogram the BIOS beyond just reflashing? Anything lower level that can be done?

Might want to try pulling the CPU and reinstalling. That is strange, hope you don't have to RMA.

I think I wrecked the CMOS or BIOS by using the clear CMOS jumper while the board was plugged in. I had powered off at the PSU, but it was still plugged in. When I toggled the jumper, it caused the board to power on. When you use the jumper, it is supposed to be completely off-line, even unplugged.

Unplugged is the best way but that should not matter. I clear CMOS while the board is plugged in all the time.

That's interesting. Not sure why it decided to flake out then.

Here's another weird thing: The P8Z77 WS will no longer post without my EVGA 680 installed. I tried to force the iGPU to run by pulling the 680, and it hangs up with an A2 code. Makes no sense at all.

Just crossing my fingers it's not the CPU.

thought i'd chime in with a question to hopefuly get solved.

i've got a z77 sabertooth with an i5 3570k, bought it last saturday, and i've had it running 4ghz since i put it together.

today, i decided to lap my cpu in preperation for my lapped true 120, and now it seems to ignore the settings i set in the bios, and will only go up to a 34x multi, even though i have it set in the bios for 40x. any reason why this might happen?

i dont think i messed anything on the cpu up, made sure to dust it off and wipe it down with alcohol on Q-tips before putting it back in.

Reflash UEFI with EZ flash 2 and a FAT32 formatted flash drive. Use a single memory module to ensure the system is stable during the flash. If that does not return control of all multipliers, then you need to RMA the board. You can ask for advanced shipping in the USA.
