The driver understands that if he'd been dicking around and caused the accident (or been a wise ass about it) he wouldn't be going home from the hospital when he did due to "additional fractures and lacerations" that weren't discovered until some time later. My arrival and departure would of course have been coincidental. As it was, while he could have done better (and after our little chat I expect he will do), I believe it was primarily the other party's fault.
