motherboard or IMC seems to give me headache, but, swapping in the upcoming week

DDR3-1866 8-8-8-24 1T seems to be what they like...
    DDR3-1866 7-7-7-24 1T was possible for 32M, but.... With 1.86v

Tested in a chassie, not on bench table.. Just light testing... I cant get 2133 bootable, I think it is the mobo...

    DDR3-1866 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.6v isnt a problem...

All tests have been performed with a Corsair 2x 60mm ram cooler at 2.7v

Hope so! Tried both pairs of slots? Noticed most people need to run 2T on intel using 21.33x, that may be worth a shot. No post sounds like rtl/twr/wcl is wrong though and im guessing you cant adjust those on that board?

16GB now, 2000 9-9-9 1.575V. Just put it together and haven't tried anything else yet.
Got the CPU up to 4766Mhz 1.38V so far as well now that I have a real loop.

Any idea if these kits are any good on X58 ?

    I have a Gigabyte X58UD3R Rev 1.6 thinking of getting 4 of these http://www.crucial.com/store/partspe...G3D1869DT2TXOB

4gb 1866 1.5v kits .... wonder if they will play nice with my setup or i have to look at 1.65v stuff.

    1087MHz (DDR3-2174) 9-9-9-24-33 2T 110ns 1.65V

    1104MHz (DDR3-2208) 9-9-9-24-32 2T 110ns 1.67V

    Click for full res.

*Note: Not sure what's the real vdimm, I have soldered a wire for vCore only. Might be more, might be less.

Strange that loosening tRC didn't helped me, but just vDIMM. And like all Micron they scale pretty well with voltage, probably could do 2240 - 2250 with 1.7V if the scaling is still linear.

    I got a bit over 2300Mhz a few pages back with 1.7v.

Picked up a CHV and a second 8120 to toy with at MC tonight. Probably mess around with it in a few days or a week or so.

Trying out the Ballistix Elite 1866 kit on the M5G. 2200mhz fairly tight timings, latency boundary 5.

Prime is more IMC than memory. 32m shows the memory/board is 100% stable given a decent IMC .

Nice btw dude! Done any testing with 4 dimms? Id love to see if this T-Topology thing is all Asus are making it out to be...

Not at all. 32m is neither a great overall stability test, it tells just few about the overall memory subsystem stability. You can complete 32m and not pass 3 minutes Prime.

Not with current intel chips. Dont forget vdimm and vccio affect imc as well. On SB and probably IB as well if you can pass 32m but not prime its due to imc voltage requirement and not memory.

You will see this if you have multiple cpu as each will require different vdimm/vccio for full prime stability but all will pass 32m with the same minimum vdimm .

Sometimes you can hit the maxmimum memory oc before the imc max ofcourse in which case what you describe can happen. Only likely to happen with old/budget memory kits or golden imc .

Latency boundary 5? What is that? I have been trying without luck to reach 2200 no matter timings/volts on my M4E. Do you change any subtimings? Thanks.

*EDIT: Found out what was wrong about 2200. Rams would not like 9-9-9-27 timings at no speed more than 2133 (45 lcd error code), but runs good at 9-9-9-24. They are weird.

I believe it is a Z77 specific timing that is not found on the M4E.

Yes it is specific to z77. This board does really well with memory.

Havent tried 4 dimms yet. I was just trying to see the difference in 32m times using different memory multipliers. At 2200 tight timings 9-9-8, I lose about 1 second exactly to 2600mhz 10-12-12, cpu at 5.4.

I cant seem to get much higher with this kit. For 2600 I used the samsungs and the GSkill ripjaws.

tell me about it I just plugged in, some 2133 8-9-8 BBSE and they booted 2400 8-10-8-28 at 1.68v

Seems like the best mix is 2600-2800 with decent timings on air, instead of 3000+ with slack secondary and tertiary timings.

Cold on the memory seems to do wonders on this platform which is why all the older high speed kits are flying with moar voltage i.e. PSC & BBSE

Thank you loud and ocnub for the response. What voltage do you need for 2133 and 2200 @ 9-9-9 on this kit?

2100 9-9-9 usually 1.55 for stable, 2200 1.6v, at least for mine. Havent really gotten time yet to find the lowest stable voltages and timings yet though. My new OC puts me at 2k daily, so Im working with 9-9-9 at low voltage, or 8-8-8 with 1.6ish.

For LB5 it needed 1.72v, it may need less if I tweak the other voltages. Using LB8 now at 1.64v, ranges go from 1-14, default for the profile Im using is 12, which probably needs less vdimm. Ive been trying to get Latency Boundary as low as possible, but anything below 5 refuses to boot.
