It could be, but I believe that SF drives do not carry out aggressive GC when idle, rather they wait for new writes so they can limit the amount of WA.
I believe the issue is more likely due to small xfers at a low QD that cannot be write combined. It could also be that the controller cannot compress data in this type of scenario which adds to the WA.
It will be interesting to see how the rest of the week goes.
Later I will try a manual trim to see what happens to the writes. (I have 12.5GB free on a 55.8GB drive)
Edit: A manual trim did not change any of the SMART values.
Edit 1 - as I am using a trim enabled system perhaps the drive did not need to be cleaned up.
