Batch numbers are not important with SB-E it seems. The guys who are testing CPU's from the same batch see massively different Overclocks. Its all look of the draw!!!!

Indeed it is we saw 49X to 57X in over 40 CPU's of the same batch... And even if it boots at high speeds it can be the IMC can't handle high ram clocks...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    Thank you for your help.
I will just have to give it a go & see what I get (although my luck is normally very poor)

I will just have to get my head around overclocking my new motherboard

that is interesting, i want the same thing on every board with a digital PWM, as the PWm does infact measure the temp of every phase through a thermsistor, I would think it would be possible. But maybe it is only visible through the firmware, which can't be integrated into the BIOS.

i heard a few people did get that, but i am not sure about how truthful that is. Intel might do it, who knows. The worst that can happen is that they say no.

Its worth a try if you have a bad clocking chip. Otherwise I dont think there is any benefit in exchanging your c1 for a C2.

Hi. I have a new setup 3930K c2 + Asus Rampage IV Formula. It`s my new main rig and main use is crunching and gaming. How about max safe voltages in 24h crunching. I plan to use 4.9 -5.0Ghz and my cpu need about 1.45-1.46v vcore to be prime stable. Is it too much? How about CPUVTT and VCCSA volts in 24/7 use? I dont want my cpu to degrade. My cooling is cold water (chiller and radiators outside). Max cpu temp @4960 / 1.46v in prime blend is 44 celsius and 40 celsius in crunching. VRM is cooled by 2*120 fans and VRM is cool to touch. I am always been AMD clocker and now noob INTEL clocker but hope to learn more.

Just received my 3930K C2. Currently testing it with Sabertooth, but in 2 weeks RIVE arrives. Anyway:

What concerned me almost instantly it has TJ max set at 91*C. Is it board related or what? What are your tj max for cpu guys?

Mine TJmax is 91 too. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that.

OK, so now I know it's normal for retail.

I've got 3960X ES and it has Tj max set at 105*C, thought retail will be the same :/

It is still hard to find a 3930K. I thought the shortage would have let up by now. The yields must be no where near where Intel wants them, every
chip that has all the parts working to be a Xeon will be binned a Xeon. With the release of the server chips a few weeks away, Intel can not afford to have supply issues. $1000 for a 3960X is too much for many. The 3820 doesn't make a lot of sense because the motherboards are expensive and PCI-E 3.0 doesn't justify the purchase, just wait for Ivy Bridge.

I would pay $1000 for a 2.8ghz 8-core chip, but that is a long way off. This would probably be the highest bin for Xeons. Could you use a lower clocked 8-core Xeon (probably $1000) and use the 125 strap to get to at least 2.8? Some motherboards have supported Xeon's in the past, any plans for that now?

If I am going to have to wait many weeks more to get a 3930K, I might as well wait for the possibility of using a Xeon.

From what I know, people with ES chips of the SB-E LGA 2011 Xeons haven't been able to get straps to work. However.. the 3930K equivalent LGA2011 xeons are able to run fine with straps, just not sure if they will be for LGA1356 or LGA2011 yet.

Yay 3930K C2 on the way and RIVE on my desktop . No RAMs yet though. Hopefully my X58-Dominator GTs would work with testing etc. properly..

A few days ago my "auto notification" email was sent to me by NewEgg that the 3930K was back in stock. By the time I got to the website.....yup you guess it. They (i would hope there was more than one) were gone and the page showed OUT OF STOCK. Since the other vendors that have the 3930K were blatantly gouging on the price I decided to empty the piggie bank and get a 3960X - which pretty much wiped out my funds for new video cards. So I'll lean on my pair of 470GTX cards a few months longer while I scrape together the duckets for their upgrade. It's almost spring time anyway. Time to start fishing and playing golf again.
