Cool I been so swapped at work cos am working on Xmas... Dont know how serious are you about using Lion as I use it to do Video encoding... and pretty much handles my music library.... Not signing on the App Store must drive you mad are you sure your ethernet card is been registered as eth0 under the network on system preferences... anything else is showing up before that on the list like bluetooth, firewire or wireless thats your prob right their remove the eth from the device list and add it again as eth0.. then your other devices... see if that helps and everytime you modify a Kext make sure to run Kext utility and restart and also ethernet built in must be on the boot.plist

I upgraded the video card in my hackintosh!
    from nv7600GS to nv9800GTX!
everything is working ok - I am typing this from the hackintosh. However I cannot enable OpenGL performance option in PhotoShop CS5 Extended

tried updating drivers..no go.. is there something I need to download/install for the GPGPU? CUDA?

I dont exactly know why OpenGL isnt working am not aware of the option on Photoshop, bu it could be that OpenGL works but the card is too old to run the latests version of Photoshop... did you install the card using strings? or Graphic card enabler?

    its under photoshop>preferences>performance..

definitely not too old - the card is 100% OpenCL/GL compliant - its on the tested list for CS5

I'm not sure what strings are, nor the other option/method

I simply put the card in & switched it on I tried champlist & EFI-something.. nothing worked

its rather ironic & annoying - I bought the card for the sole purpose of having full OpenGL enhancement

OK so is the correct information abut the gpu showing up under the system information...? to be honest am not the right person to answer this question as I don't have Photoshop sorry... I would try installing the card using something called EFI studio...

Also download this http://developer.download.nvidia.com...0.50_macos.dmg and install it is the latest CUDA drivers for mac.

Hi guys this is an updated way of installing Hackintosh (Lion) using Unibeast and Multibeast, I find this solution to be much better and reliable (for my system anyway) improving speed and performance. Check out my Video!

good to hear from you again!

I have lent my hackintosh out to a friend for use with PS

I'll be getting it back soon-ish.. I am then going to re-install in an attempt to get OSX to play nice with the 9800GTX installed (I need/want PS to recognise it so that it uses it for OpenCL/CUDA)

also, in the next few months I will hopefully get a Mac keyboard as well as upgrade the mobo (one that has 4 DDR3 DIMM slots) so that I can get 16GB ram into the hac!

    Asus bios hack!

Any of you guys try hacking your bios to make it more hackintosh friendly? I was able to pull that off couple months ago
on my Asus Z68 Deluxe by modding 8 bits into the bios and reflashing. Was really cool because now I can install OSX
without getting crashes from power management kext errors!

Any Asus hackintoshies out there I recommend you do the same. Instructions are a google search away, but your
going to have to get your hands on the right AMI bios tool software to pull it off!

Hmm very interesting but surely editing/creating a DSDT is a safer way, am not sure what you mean by editing the BIOS but it sure looks dangerous LOL..

No editing a DSDT is not going to fix this particular problem being the AppleIntelPowerManagement Kext throws a kernel panic on certain boards especially Asus boards. Don't believe Gigabyte boards have this issue but your forced to run a hack on that Kext after installing Lion or when you upgrade Lion to each new release you could get more KPs as Apple Update over writes the Apple Intel Kext.

But modding the bios wasn't that bad. I had to make sure that I used the right version editor for my particular board or else I could have a problem with 8MB bios files. Not that I havent corrupted my bios before doing a bad flash though its easy enough to just swap a bios chip if that ever happened. Worth the risk. Got the heart racing a bit after flashing! Now I can save a step when installing Lion or updating it to a newer version...

Do at your own peril though but worth it!

I know what you mean (about the Appleintelpowermanagment kext specially laptops) and gigabyte dont suffer as much as asus does you are right but people do choose gigabyte more because there is greater community making better DSDTs, I suppose the BIOS solution is a permanent fix and I will test it out, as most of my boards to hackintosh are asus... 10.7.3 has just been release and so far no problems here....

    10.7.3

I upgraded to 10.7.3 without issues thanks to the bios fix. Only thing is now my audio is broken. At first I thought I killed the motherboard sound after splitting the audio between the motherboard sound and my xfi card on the same wire. Fortunately it works in windows 7. No hardware damage.

    Whew!

Dude sound is the 1 thing that you always will Lose after an update of the OS in every board just re-apply the the fix you had previously, I got a P6X58D-e which uses the realtek ALC 889 so I just reselect it from multibeast with the according options and it Works every time

Yeah dude I did that! I used multibeast to reinstall the audio kexts and had sound working for like three minutes. Then I did something stupid by sharing the same speaker plugs across my xfi card for windows and alc 889 mb audio jacks. The backfeed slowly caused the sound levels to drop until no sound in lion. I rebooted into my windows partition and the sound off of the xfi started to drop so i unplugged the alc889 and rebooted into osx that uses alc889 and thought i burned out something. So i rebooted into Windows and there was audio on the alc889 thank god!

So ill try reinstalling the kexts and see what happens. Just glad there was no hardware damage!

Point is dont split your audio jacks between two different sound cards on the same motherboard!

My hackintosh is based on an Asus Z68 Deluxe Gen1 Board. Before that I had the P67 version but had issues with resuming from sleep and other weird problems so I sold it on eBay.
But the Z68 Board has been solid like a rock. Dual bootable to Windows 7 with a Raid share that both OSX and windows can see. I have a dsdt that I spent weeks making from
scratch for it as well using chameleon 1700. Might tweak it a little bit today before the Superbowl..

    Thanks.

I have to Caviar blacks running off of the Marvel controller in raid 0 so both osx and windows can see it. You'll probably need to use Paragon's Ntfs for osx to write to drive or else it will be read only. Also I have the esata jmb controller operational but that took a dsdt edit plus kexts from multibeast. About the Superbowl where im from every one will be doubling their prozac today!

I would experiment with the Highpoint Rocketraid 620 or 640 card. Its only $40 and is marvel based and may work. Only thing is its not a professional raid card but may get the job done for what its worth. What x58 motherboard do you have?
