Best ram for AMD platform

Well, I finally got these Ripjaw 2133's today. I haven't had much time to play with them, so these are really early results.

So far, I kind of have mixed feelings...
The clocks are really good, but I'm having a hard time tightening timings.
Maybe it's just the nature of an 8gb kit, but my old Mushkin Lovos (4gb 2x2) were killer and did 2040 @ 7-10-7 stable.

Anyway, heres what I've gotten after a few hours (seemingly stable):



It's a nice kit for $70... Guess I was just hoping for a little more as far as timings go.

I obviously have alot more work to do, but I'm just looking for opinions...

Dave, you have an extremely good 8GB kit. That's about as good as it gets...
Surely Hynix BFR on your kit.

Been tricky so far to get it to run 100% stable above 2000 with my hypers as well. Can boot at something like 2500, but stability is just not there.

Can you do 1866/CL6 stable with that rig?

Highly doubt my sticks are up for it. Never came close to those numbers with thuban. But will give it a try in a few.

edit: As I expected, 1866 6-6-6 was a no-go, tried up to 1.74v.

I'll give it a try when my chip comes tomorrow.

I was able to do 1800 with 1.71v (real) on Thuban, but I'm not too afraid to try up to 1.75v with a fan.

I've just got myself a set of Corsair Vengeance 1600 CL8 sticks which appear to be Micron based, currently got them at CL7 @1333. Anyone know if these are better at tighter timings or higher speeds?

I can confirm they are hynix bfr. I have 8120 and 990FXA UD7. I havent really had time to mess around with them.

but I've bought 16gb kit, cheapest one I got know from Hiwa that all RipjawZ are hynix bfr so I will check it out with my phenom 955 limited imc (a bit over 1900). I dont know how hynix bfr plays with lower latency.

1600 CL9 might not be Hynix BFR. All the high performance kits are (2133/2400)

Hey spcial- change tras to 17+ and you will gain ~50 MHz with no efficiency loss...also 6-6-5 is slower on AMD for some reason

Yes. But you don't lose stability with 6-6-5 anyway. Try 6-6-6-18-11 or 6-6-6-17-11. I can easily run tRC = 11 on AMD platform with my Dominators.
Highest I've run on Deneb/Callisto was this http://hwbot.org/submission/2132423 . Maybe I could have gone higher, but the challenge rules didn't allow CPU speed above 4500.

Guys, I need your help. I am trying to get full stability from my Samsung 30nm. I am quite stable as you can see in the screenshot on my signature but with AUTO sub-timings I am getting random Prime95 errors.

Now I have put them like this (according to memory SPD @ CL8):


but in the memory SPD (according to Everest) I couldn't find right values for:
- tRTTO
- tWRRD
- tWRWR
- tRDRD
(The values set to AUTO from top to bottom in the bios screen).


What should I put there?

Also, from the timings I have already set which would you change and why?

I would try 8 or 12 at Write recover time and 5 at ras to ras, maybe 110ns for cycle time low it down to 1,57-1,62v

Is this a rule? Because SPD says 22, motherboard sets 20 on AUTO.

That's just wonderful for amd, but actually linx doesn't test memory much, it's more related w/ cpu. Try 3hrs of prime blend and I will be very suprised if it pass.

I have to quote. I would like to see more real stability test like Prime95 too, set as follows:
- select Blend as Torture Test and then Custom
- put 7000MB of RAM to be tested (leave at least 1000MB for s.o.)

Result:


Keep it for at least 2 houres (better if more than 8/12).
