I bought the cards on Saturday. The i7 920 is holding me back. Thinking to upgrade to i7 3930K but I am holding back because of the ivy bridge launch. Maybe I will wait to decide after ivy bridge launch...
I will try to improve the scores with overclocking the next days...
Beacause I am having trouble uploading photos in this forum, you can see my scores in this link, of the greek hardware forum I am posting...

By default the setting is "AMD Optimized". You can uncheck that box and move the slider to "Off". This is not useful at all for anyone that games. It is for benchmarking with HWBoth Heaven DX11 and 3DMark 11 only. Aside from those two, leave it on so you can take advantage of the power this GPU has for tessellation in games.

Looks like 1170 MHz core for my Sapphire 7970 on stock voltage, which Afterburner shows to be around 1.10V. This with Kombustor stress test stable. I'll post final stable OC results later with pics.

    Few questions...

Will the 2500k/2600k family limit these cards to sub-par performance?
Do these cards max out the bandwidth of PCIe 2.1?
Does anyone know when the 6GB models will start surfacing?

I'm really hoping to Xfire a pair of the 6GB editions for my 3 monitor setup.

Some compute scenarios might be PCIe-bound but I don't think 8x8 CF will be a big problem. Maybe for 7990 Quad-fire it might be an issue.

Here are my results for the day, highest 3DMark 11 stable I managed.

Just installed my 4 Asus 7970 Quad-Fire, no overclock on the GPUs, everything at stock, 3930k at 4.6 only. 5 minutes after installing them, just to check that everything was working fine.

Factory overclock Im guessing, so it defaults to 1000 core....

and how are we going to get more volts into these?

I keep asking but how is Sapphire going to get a 1335 core clock on their TOXIC model?

The LN boys must have the hard mods already, just havent made them public, unlocking via software would be good but maybe the std pcb and components cant handle it reliably ..... Lightning will be a different story.

    ^ Nice scores guys!!

Changed to a 2600k from 3930k, score is about the same. CPU clocked much higher though. I fudged up the cpuz screen, meant to show mobo, p67a ud5.

if we look at TPU's cpu comparison review, sandy bridge was quite nice & beat the i7 920 easily, so i doubt it would be a problem (i'm more worried about my 3.6ghz q9550 if i get a 7970)

why would they make 6GB editions?

For eyefinity/4k most likely, and some compute stuff..

    On air. 4X 7970 1150/1500 3930K at 5.1: 27075 graphic score 37432. Crazy!

My 4X 7970 are at stock voltage for now. Imagine at 1.3v with waterblocks.

    3D Marks 11

    Heaven

Tesselation is at stock default value "AMD optimized". Didn't touch the tessalation slider at all. Evertything is at default value.

hey guys, getting some strange behavior, while overclocoking the gpu, it will do 1170 with stock volts, im using crysis 2 to check stability, seems to be the most stressful game, using dx11 and high res texture pack. If i use stock volts im stable at 1170 core and 1725 memory, but if i raise the voltage to 1.3 it crashes, even at the same frequency, if anyone else has crysis 2 installed please check your OC, might not be as stable as you think. I was stable in EVERY game except for crysis 2.

im also using eyefininty 5760 x 1080 resolution
