Does anyone know if the samsung DDR3 1600 low voltage 30nm (1.35v) kit works well with Llano?

They should work fine. I currently have a pair of GSkill Ecos (1.35v DDR3-1600) running at 1866MHz in the UD2H and it's been running fine for the past four months as my HTPC.

Haven't had any RAM compatibility issues with Llano at all.

I have two sets of Ecos too. Could you please tell me your settings? (Mem timings, voltages used)

The ECOs are low voltage, but they arent 30nm Samsungs, very different stuff.

Though that doesnt mean the Samsungs wouldnt play nice with Llano, they should do perfectly fine with it. If the Hynix stuff I have coming doesnt OC well, Ill be trying the 30nm Sammys next.

VDDNB is GNB + CNB on Asus boards, i.e GPU too.

Like said before if you want proper clocks for GPU use old bios (0802 for M PRO).
    New bioses OC like ****.

    Tbone,
Out of curiosity, so you have a Gigabit LAN and, if so, is the onboard nic working properly? I've had 3 of these things and the LAN hasn't worked properly on any of them regardless which drivers I use. I ended up getting an intel pci-e nic for board 3.

so the VDDNB setting is on auto should go above 1.150?

what about APU1.2v Voltage setting? (is this the one that adjust gpu volts?)

what cpu voltage should i be setting at about? i just started at 1.45v (in bios) as a base to play around with @3.5ghz

should i even touch vdda voltage? what about Cpu LLC? put it on high or extreme?

jsut trying to find a good base to start at.

also in the third bios screen should i disable C6, CPB, AMD powernow, SVM, C-state Pmin?

yah i may go back to 0802 bios as hwmonitor temps r haywire...

    should i use k10stat?

i left it running at work overnight to let it settle in...will do some more tuning tomorrow

EDIT: man i have alot to learn with llano

Let me know what you find. The issue that I experience is, in essence, a drop-out after transferring a certain amount of data. On a gigabit switch, I was able to make it through 15-30MB transferred, then nothing else would communicate. The link state remained correct, and was identified correctly if I reseated the cable, but wouldn't communicate anymore until I rebooted. On 100Mbit lan, the drop-out occurred somewhere in the 600MB range, with the same symptoms past that point. I tried quite a few cables, two gigabit and two 100Mbit switches and found the same results across the board.

    Bit of an update..

The difficultly im having in finding suitable 1866 memory is making me look at the 960t option again.

transferred a bunch of large and small files to and from my drobo and it seems ok no drop outs.

reload fresh copy of realtek driver and check settings...i would check advanced properties of the nic....check wake on LAN setting

Nice! Guess I just, somehow, got 3 boards in a row from different sources with the same problem.

so i was able to do a quick session today with my new 3870k, i got it a little better than before, still trying to figure out bios settings...

any help to guide me in the right direction would be much appreciated

still testing most current bios 1903...will test 0802 soon when i get the hang of it. (hopefully this bios will be better for OC)

my chip doesn't like much past 3600mhz/900mhz

ran wprime and cinebench 11.5 cpu/openGL benchs a bunch of times...

any bios settings i can tweak better?

edit: running 2x4gb G.skill Snipers 1866 9-10-9-28 kit, Xigmatek s1283 push pull heatsink (fans are on max) and corsair 530w psu

Have you tried using discrete to see if you get any further?
What about different combinations? Does the Asus board have the bus divider at 133BLCK+ ? Any way of testing that?

I have a Biostar board on the way with a 3670k

I got 3.5Ghz running prime so far, 1.45Vcore. Tried 3.6 with up to 1.525Vcore, and 1.25V VDDNB, and it gives the ".5 expected .4 or less" on the first core instantly.

You can probably leave the core voltage alone for the most part on air, and just increase the Nb and APU 1.2 voltage. At most of the lower clock speeds for these chips those are two places that seem demand the most under load. On the 3850's you could increase the vcore instead of increasing the north bridge and APU 1.2voltage. This is only effective till the mid 4.5ghz range, this only works if you are using it purely for 2d. If you try to get it to work this way under 3d operations using the IGP it will be voltage starved and crash.

The 3870k's seem to have less problems with voltage loads across the cores and IGP, than the 3850's did so it makes some of the work with this chip alot easier.

At 3.5 it was also throttling cores back to 2.7 with all power saving stuff disabled, and the CPU and NB set to 130%. Temps hit 61C.

What temperature monitoring software / clock reading sw are you using to check info and throttling Cecil?

HWmonitor TMPN0 for CPU temp, the core temp readings are way off. And coretemp shows the speed of ever core.

3.4Ghz stable with 1.425Vcore and default everything else. For 3.5 Ive tried up to 1.525Vcore, 1.33 APU, and 1.37 VDDNB. Its always the first core that drops out before the first pass of Prime.

I'll fire up my asus board later and see what i can find for the setting i know i found a way to prevent the throttling its just not that straight forward of an option.

Also its not abnormal for core temps to be strange on llanos, showing values of 0c, 11c, 16c, stuff like that. Its part of the power management. I believe its gating the core on and off based on load.
