If you think about it most of these MBs are used with air or water cooling. Then a few are used with SS or cascade. Then maybe fewer are used with dice. Then just a very few out of the total are used with LN2.

Based on my tests this CHV would be good for all the above cooling options but LN2 so if 5-10% of the total MB's had a problem running at extreme cold it should be rare to find one when testing under LN2. I don't know that every reviewer that received one of these to test would post out here in an open forum that they ran into a CB/CBB problem (I'm not talking about chew* as he probably would say something)? Maybe mine is one in a thousand for all I know?

I still like the CHV a lot so I'll just bench it not so cold from now on.

I switched my cooling over to water from air... (Alphacool NexXxos UT60 triple rad with XSPC RayStorm block). I was hoping to break into the top ten and I might be able to tweak a little more out of it but it seems like ~5.2(+) might be close to the max on this one without going cold.

I'll try to do some more fine tuning but here is what I've got now...

Ryzen 9 on the test bench... Sometimes older generation/tech as well.

Hey, that's exactly what I was able to pull off at subzero ambient...

A very slight improvement over my last score. The chip isn't cooperating anymore at ~5.2Ghz as I'm now having trouble completing the bench and scaling voltages hasn't really helped. Maybe when we get a sub-freezing "cold snap" here in Atlanta I'll try again outside. I've settled back into my daily o.c. of ~4.7Ghz with ~1.43v load.

    No, I can do 5100+

It does get quite hot though, on air I'd probably be stuck about 4.9.

I was just trying to match Zeus's efficiency, and did it with 200 MHz lower NB clock

Poor chip. Core VID is 1.3V and CPU-NB VID is 1.225V. Water-cooled, 22C room temp.
Dunno, it could be better with LN2 and could handle 2V.
Somehow it's a problematic chip. One of the GTX2 doesn't even boot and I tested all slots and various settings. The other one boots, but can't keep up with the clocks it's capable of.
I think the mem controller is poor. Tested the module in doubt on the same board with Phenom II cpu and it works as expected.
Tested in Maximus IV Gene-Z board without a problem (2150 7-7-6 1.68V) and both work on the M4A89GTD board as well (not tested with the FX yet). All other Hyper-based sticks boot on the CHIV and FX-8120.

About the CB/CBB issue: OT, try single channel next time.
My board works this way, but I need to do some tweaking and see if any setting in bios could help for dual channel.
Vref voltages or drive strengths might help.

I'd say it was back luck with this CH5F, I mean I have a bunch of other Asus MB's and most are solid as a rock when testing cold or hot.

Yeah, I've had to test single channel on a couple of the Asus/Intel MB's but usually because of the CPU rather than the MB and this 8150 was ok with LN2 using the AsRock MB. I didn't try single channel during this test with the 8150 though, it may help I don't really know. I doubt there will be a next time with this 8150 it just isn't good enough to give it another chance.

Chances are if I had another CH5F it would test ok under LN2 but fact is I buy most all my hardware myself and I don't plan to buy another one just for LN2 testing. Thanks for the input though.

Hope you ended up with a great score. Didn't sound like you were short on MB's. How many CPU's did you buy for these tests, if you don't mind me asking?

    i have 2 chips.
the good and the bad :P the one is for review and will returned (the bad) but it has good IMC and the other is mine.

cpus are ultra durable, motherboards are the weak point.

A test with Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5. A bit lower NB than AMDNord, but CPU-clock is the same. EDIT: Now I saw AMDNord had a bit higher clock.

The board felt really good once I figured out some functions. I think 7350-7400MHz should be doable on this board with this CPU. I was trying to complete other benches though, so this is my top result.

It's 1140CPM and vid 1.275v. After struggeling with getting PCMark-results, I tried Cinebench a few times more. However I did not manage to catch up with you.

I tried this CPU on another board earlier, and I reached 7979MHz with 1.92v wich was the highest volt I could have on that board. On this board I could use higher voltage and I tried up tp 1.98v. Max validation now was... 7979MHz also! I think I have to accept that this is not a 8GHz CPU, even if I can see clocks just over 8GHz. A bit enoying being that close...

And with water cooling. Not max clock, but it felt like no use to risk more as the voltage felt high as it was...
