Yeah, I haven't connected this test build to the internet yet; and probably won't until I'm done getting the OC to where I want it.

Question, wouldn't that put me over the 100GFlops then?

yup and it will fully stress your cpu, both good things

    Thanks!

Yes the ac is on, chip gets pretty warm at 1.5+vcore. I need to insulate the sensor on the ac again to stop it from shutting off. If you can keep the thermostat warm the compressor will just keep running, temps stay 40-45c that way during linx.

Updated to Service Pack 1 and the GFlops didn't go up by much, what up with that? lol
They went from 63.0051 to 63.2597; oh well, guess the title of my entry still correct at least.
Running 25 loops instead of 20 since I don't really look at the run, and most of the times I miss
the end of the 20th run; hopefully I'll catch it now since I got 4 more loops to take the shot.

Here it is with SP1 installed, and Linx still running while the shot was taken:

    CPU: i7 2600K Batch# 3135B460 @ 5000Mhz on 1.415v [BIOS]
    MB: ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z
    RAM: 4GB DDR3-1886 [3.03GB used]
Cooling: Corsair H70; fan on chipset

I'll try for something higher later on.

    Telo,
There are two other reasons your GFlops could be low.
    1. You have not updated your LinX Binaries from the Intel Math Kernel Library page. The LinX listed on the front page of this thread is outdated, and the one on the regular LinX thread is SUPER outdated.
    2. You're not booted into diagnostic mode: start -> run -> msconfig -> click diagnostic mode -> ok -> restart

Either way, neither of your two runs are valid for this club.

It appears I was using the wrong LinX shortcut...

    CPU: i7 2600K Batch# 3135B460 @ 5000Mhz on 1.44v [BIOS]
    MB: ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z
    RAM: 4GB DDR3-1886 [3GB used]
Cooling: Corsair H70; fan on chipset

Had to jack up the voltage from 1.415 to 1.44v
I doubt anything else will stress this CPU like this so gonna bring it back to 1.415v

Failwhale entry. update your linpack, make sure you're running the x64 and make sure you're in diagnostic mode with all mem.

RRunner that's pretty impressive if it's LinX stable below 1.3v! My 990X can boot into windows at 4.5GHz with 1.288v in CPU-Z but it's not stable. These 3031A2xx batches really are something else!

Wow, 1.305v load at 4500MHz - that's the most impressive Gulftown I've ever seen!

With a good bit of tweaking I think my 990X will match CryptiK's in vcore, doing 4.5GHz with 1.33-1.34v... but it definitely doesn't have as good an IMC and needs more QPI volts. I did a quick LinX run this morning with 4096MB to speed things up a bit, and this is what I got:

    BIOS values:
    CPU 1.3625v
    QPI 1.2875v
    IOH 1.2v

    180x25
    1800MHz 8-9-8-24-110-2T
    3060MHz uncore

Copper TRUE, 15C ambient (no outside air or turbine cooling this time - just a very cool chip!)

Next step for me is to test the IMC to see how the uncore scales with voltage. Looks like 4000MHz uncore will need about 1.4v but I'll see what I can do. 200x23 with 2000MHz memory would be a very nice daily OC

Not sure if its the same for gulftown but qpi=vcore used to aid stability.

Also how come 1.2v IOH? I never needed over 1.16v even @ 215+ bclk. Not that it matters really, but its less heat in the chipset if you go low on volts.

Tried lowering CPU PLL? Easiest way to test for added stability is to get linx to a point where it will reliably fail within 5 or 6 runs, then drop your pll as low as it can go and start raising it. You should find a voltage range where you suddenly become more stable if not totally stable. Takes a while but you've got the patience . 1.62v to 1.65v for me depending on qpi/vcore.

Cheers Pilsy - that run was focused mainly on lowering the CPU volts as much as possible, and 1.3625 is the best I can do. Unfortunately my board isn't quite "premier league" and won't allow me to drop CPU PLL, which is a real PITA frankly lol. I know this CPU will do 4.5GHz under 1.35v but not in my board! If Asus were to release a BIOS that allowed lowering of PLL voltage, that would be wonderful... as it stands I'm really tempted to get a better board, but it would be ridiculous for the sake of one voltage option! Argh!

As for IOH, I tried it at 1.16v and GFlops dropped to 82, so the higher voltage definitely seems to be doing something for the memory - could just be one of my board's many quirks. I guess I could repeat the same run as before and see what happens... all in due course.

My next task is underway: tighter memory and higher uncore for better memory performance - I've run it a few times and am taking voltages down each time. Took a quick screen grab to show increase in GFlops. It looks like 1.3125v will be needed for QPI, but that's not half bad compared to my 980X which needed 1.35+

Furthermore it's a very cool chip considering this is air cooled and in a 20C room - an earlier run maxed out at 81C, and that was with higher voltages!

4.7GHz, 12 threads, air cooled. Concentrating on CPU first as this looks like areally nice daily OC with the CPU at 1.4375v in BIOS, 1.424v idle and 1.432v load in CPU-Z, so memory and uncore are very low at 1720MHz (8-9-8-24-110-2T) and 3060MHz respectively. QPI is 1.325v and IOH 1.2v. PLL at 1.8v as I can't lower it grrrr...

Anyways after getting this run more easily than I anticipated (first try lol), I then started to tweak the memory and uncore. Without changing any voltages I tightened mem to 7-8-7-24-88-2T and raised uncore to 3440, and GFlops went to 89 consistently. I got 19 runs from LinX and just before it started to process the 20th run the system froze... ARGH!

I then tried memory at 2000Mhz (8-9-8-24-110-2T) and uncore at 3575MHz, and that gave me 90 GFlops but no stability, so I may try to get it stable with a lower uncore speed.

Since my first successful run (pictured) I've not been able to get anything stable - I've had the x101 BSOD several times, and twice I've had the "linpack_xeon64 has stopped working" popup about 10 loops into a LinX run that looked perfectly stable with very little fluctuation between GFlops. Weird.
