i am, but not much going on there either.. (highest on bot is <58 last time i checked)
binning select batches of 2600ks (older) is still the way to go i think.. newer ones seem to be really bad (~52X average.. everything that was made past week 10 of this year.. i've had no luck with)
Just got my GTX580 Classi hooked up with my 2600K on my old ud5, 3DM11 and Vantage coming up.
Can anyone tell me what code 58 is on a M4E ? I just got my single stage going and it wont boot ....![]()

Same batch Core i7 2700K 3126C259 Costa Rica cpu arrived today from Splave and finally can play with 55x and 56x multi.
The cpu is definitely hotter than my 2600K but much better overclocker without Internal PLL overvoltage needed, the 2700K can bench HyperPi 16M Pi x8 instances all the way to 51x multi for 5100Mhz, while my 2600K started to need Internal PLL OV around 4700Mhz.
- Core i7 2700K 3126C256
- Asus Maxmus IV Gene-Z 0902 bios
- 2x2GB Gskill 17600 PIS 7-10-10-28 rated
- Sapphire HD5870 flashed to Asus bios
- 80GB Intel X25-M SSD
- 1200W Silverstone OP1200
2700K @5600Mhz
First up disable HT due to heat (can hit > 80+C under load if HT enabled) for 56x multi can only manage 8M Pi but this is just on Corsair H50-1 H20.

I've got an L118434A here batch 3124C542 that is going in to a P8P67 Pro. Any suggestions on where to start? This is my first go with these newer chips, been running an I7-920 for a very long time ;p Seeing all this stuff about PLL overvoltage, no overvoltage, changing the PLL manually, etc.
Mine i7 2700K does 4.6 at 1.32v and 4.8 at 1.37v.
For 5 GHz needs 1.45v.
I have bad luck for good clockers

Nice cpu George
Guys, my M4E is dead so what am I going to replace it with? Its going under single stage so I just want a mobo thats going to let the cpu clock as well as it can, I dont need multiple pcie's so I was thinking of going with a Gene-Z, what do you guys think? Or buy another M4E?
Any help would be great.

Well my Mobo is a POS and that one you mention is its little brother!
You get zero support and until recently only 2 Bios were released and now about 6 in total have been released with 2 pulled so that leaves 4 and all since launched around May 2011 AFAIR.
To put in perspective the brand new X79 ROG was launched recently and is at same 90X Bios build branch already!

I have tortured my P8P67 EVO on water many times and its been great but this M4E is a worry .... its got code 00 now, anyone know what that is?
Edit: Mobo is alive, cpu is dead, RIP another 56x cpu .... now to buy another ....

Its a false alarm, the cpu is dead, M4E is alive but I tested another 2600K on the M4E and it locks up at 4300 at any volts, so I tried it on another mobo with air cooling, it went a little higher oddly but locks at 4500, what the hell is this? Faulty cpu? Worst ever 2600K for overclocking? Or is something else at play here?
Any help would be great.

PLL Overvoltage enabled?
Its on auto as I always leave it, just tested it on a third mobo and the same thing happens. Doesnt internal PLL come into play closer to 5ghz? Its worth a try though.
Edit: Internal PLL enabled and it got to 4900 then locked at 5000.... not great but its better, that was with 1.5v too so maybe its just a poor chip and needs lots of volts.
Im going to buy a new chip tomorrow, are you guys getting better results with 2600K or 2700K?
:P

Depends, if you have a low CPU mhz wall, some processors need PLL overvoltage enabled as low as 4300 mhz, which means their absolute maximum clocks will be about 4800 mhz. It's rare, but it happens. And Auto is the same as disabled. Never seen auto enable it if it needed to be enabled, since the CPU simply won't post successfully (or will do overclock failed or a boot loop on gigabyte boards) if you're at the point where it needs to be on.
Auto cant be the same as disabled, I have benched up to 5650 on water with Internal PLL on auto so it must enable itself at some point.
I got this cpu up to 4900 with 1.500v so yes its just a low wall cpu, this is the first time I have enabled internal PLL manually.
Has anyone tried a set of the g.skill 1600 ECO C7 rams? I was wondering if they can overclock well since they are BBSE equipped.
