Speaking of travelling, I wonder what the prices of them processors are in Hong Kong... anyone from there??
I was in Honk Kong recently (7 days ago) and mobos were already available to buy ( I saw 1 model from Gigabyte and 1 from Asus - both were around 250$), Socket 2011 CPUs werent available at that time.

Shame, when I purchased my QX9650 in November 2007 it costed me £630 The most expensive CPU I have ever purchased, but I still love it to bits (hence still being on 775).

True, but you have to take into account that back then the exchange was around 2 Dollars for the Pound. Currently it's only about $1.60. I understand your point though. We all wish those CPUs were cheaper.

May I suggest to steer clear of the platform until the next CPU stepping? These are "broken" chips that Intel is flogging to you guys as "overclocker" parts. Beyond that, there will be a really limited availability and this could be in part why the prices are so high.
Also, the X79 chipset is a broken chipset that won't ever be "fixed" for the consumer platform, although the next revision should at least be better...

The NDA expires midnight tonight some local US time zone I can't remember.

Kinda interested to see if the semi unlocked 4c/8t can reach 4.2ish, if so it might suffice as the holding chip for either a second stepping 6/12 or ivybridge 6/12.

Why are people ignoring the fact that these are the botched batch, with limited #s? Its been all over this board and then some and people are still ready to drop $1000ish on a f'd up CPU and chipset that's getting a respin in 60-90 days.
