    Corsaid 128 SSD #1131

    so ...
just seen the problem thread in Corsair and the recall after buying.

couldnt understand why it only works for me on the SATA2 controller, and wouldnt read on SATA3 ( even after 1.3.2 update )
im sending back for RMA in 2 days, unless someone can explain to me if there is a specific problem preventing me from using this drive on a SATA3 controller ( with more than 4 attempts of diffrent cables, and 2 diffrent controlllers )
    im really disappointed.

my sn btw starts with #1131

Without your system specifications and the troubleshooting steps you have taken, it's impossible to assist you.

    ok.

    my system specs:
    - i7 920.
    - GA-X58A-UD3R (rev1.0) with bios F6 updated.
    - Corsair Triple Channel XMS3 12GB Ram ( 6x2 )
    - Corsair Force 3 120GB SSD on 1.3.2 firmware
    - WD 2TB Green HDD
    - 2x EVGA GTX 580s
    - Corsair HX1050 PSU
    - Corsair 800D with SATA3 uprade option installed.
    - all watercooled.

    option for this test
    - Asrock SATA3 PCIE Card.

    steps i took :
    1. tried to attach the drive to a SATA3 controller and install windows, it failed to get to the installer
    2. moved to a SATA2 controller after reading some forums, isntalled windows, updated to latest and greatest controller drivers
    3. had tons of BSODs
    4. changed to AHCI on BIOS, updated to firmware 1.3.2 and, Pated Magic wiped the disk and repeated steps 1-2 ( no more BSODs since the firmware )
    5. tried to move the drive to SATA3 controller - still no go ( "Disk Read Error" )
    6. bought and installed a second PCIE SATA3 controller - still no go ( "Disk Read Error" )
    7. repeated steps 5-6 with the HDD out of the system to avoid a possible collision, also replaced all SATA cables, and connecting the SATA directly to the drive not through the SATA3 option of the case.

    thoughts ?

It's up to you really. I just did not want to ask you to keep jumping thru hoops if you have been thorough to this point.

this is where i need the vendor advice of course

since if its not a HW issue, but firmware and i RMA it, i will get the same HW with the same problem... and it wont get me anywhere.
so if there is a firmware update expected ( i assume that there is since i read the SandForce press release 2 days ago ) then it might be good to wait...

to be honest, if a firmware is expected to be released this week, i will probably wait, if not i will probably replace just in case..

    your advice ?

I cannot comment on any potential unreleased firmwares. Based on what you have posted I think that there is EXACTLY a 50/50 chance it's hardware vs firmware.
