Double the transistors, 2 more cores, a metric ton of cache, and a more advanced process... and AMD is perhaps just slightly ahead of their previous flagship. I guess they are completely incompetent after all.

They could've just die-shrunk an x4 and slap two together, MCM style. Hell, I'd buy it.
Despite Monstru not being all that bothered about all the negative comments, I do still think a few people owe apologies.
I wonder if XS admin would be interested in a sayaa multi-quote with all the worst offenders.
I was hoping for so much more from AMD.... so so much much more.
I would like to see some 3DMark at high MHz though.... but also with a power meter plugged in
Hey broYou remember that video from a million years ago where some guy in his garage OC'd a Netburst, then removed the cooler under power?
The CPU hit the roof, the mobo had a hole blown in it (CPU socket? What CPU socket??)
Maybe it's time that film got a 2011 reboot, featuring AMD
I pretty disappointed by performance, but I see A LOT of room for improvement
This is the first large die 32nm cpu? (Process could improve)
This is a whole new architecture (It should be easier to improve that now that they actual samples?)
Thuban could not really be expanded more without breaking thermal limits so a new architecture was needed
There is a big difference between software that can utilize this arcitecture, if software is optimized for it it should perform well, however having a marketshare like AMD gives little reason for software developers to create special software for them.
I hope this is true, but I dont know enough about the stuff to be certain
This one?

I guess "FX" stands for "Xtremely Fuc***". LOL.
No one would seriously run this chip for 24/7 (Folding@Home, WCG, etc...) at it's current power consumption. I figured the FX would be 10% slower than a comparable Intel system, I was wrong. The IPC difference is closer to 20%.
I'll keep my current 955@4Ghz over a BD setup anyday.
AMD, you had better not cancel production of the Phenom II line because if you do, then you will definitely not have anything to compete with Intel. It's no wonder Chew said he was only sticking around until BD is here then vanishing like a ghost.![]()
As quoted by LowRun......"So, we are one week past AMD's worst case scenario for BD's availability but they don't feel like communicating about the delay, I suppose AMD must be removed from the reliable sources list for AMD's products launch dates"

So those leaked benchmarks were all true, Bulldozer is a disappointment and a major dud. I can't believe how poorly it performs in gaming, and the i7 2600K is pretty much ahead in most benchmarks if not all. Doesn't look like I will be upgrading my 955 rig after all.

yeah, you are. you missed it being delayed 10+ times over 4 years. you missed the GF foundry being the worst at every measure. you missed the CEO getting fired. you missed every leaked benchmark that showed bulldozer sucking.
yes, people missed a lot. maybe this is what you should read next: "in the face of clear evidence to suggest to the contrary, why do some people remain so optimistic about the future?" http://medicalxpress.com/news/2011-1...c-reality.html

I guess the jury's still out on the architecture, but this manifestation of it makes me sad...
Sad, and ANGRY! I don't think it's out of the question that intel will raise prices, unless AMD sells these things for less than their X6 lineup.
Agreed. I was really hoping to add another AMD system to my crunching mix of 2X AMD 4X intel. But from the looks of things, MM's gonna hafta pulla rabbit out of a hat in order to put some polish on this turd. Here's to hoping there's a software fix for this disaster.

So by 2013 when Intel will launch Haswell, AMD will be back at Phenom II level IPC.![]()
I iwll try to make a sound recording at 6.5Ghz 3D06 like I did a few runs (I gave up as I was nowhere close to a SB at 5.6, about 4K difference in score)... it's scary during the CPU test... seems something is gonna pop sometime soon... even at 6.3ghz wprime and co was freaky :p
I can only recommend the high end 990FX boards for Ocing this CPU... even for daily clocks it needs loads of powaaaaaa
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
And overclocking this thing is utterly useless witch such a horrendous power consumption.
