I have changed the news a bit:

The gap of ~9.6mm between the PCB and GPUs is measured on the Radeon HD6970 (e.g. more or less any naked chip), the gap between the PCB and the plastic top is bigger on the heatspreader featuring GPU (i.e. GeForce GTX 580) - about ~ 11mm.

Any idea if these will fit on cards like the MSI Lightning GTX580s, which have a much wider PCB than other reference cards? If so I'll grab one (or two) as soon as they are available @ PPCS. I think they look fantastic.

So no love for the MSI Lightnings Tiborrr?

I have 4 Lightning with 4 EK-VGA Supreme, and I have to go with Swiftech to get a bridge? Should have bought the Swiftech MCW82 instead...

My Lightnings look like tanks with EK double barrels guns.

thobel: it's universal gpu block with changed top (or separately sold top for upgrade of existing universal blocks) with inlets placed above gpu PCB's side in fullcover block fashion, that allows usage of such SLI bridge, not bridge itself.

tiborr, can you post pictures of the block and of the top only? It would make clear to everyone what we are talking about...

Forgot to mention, this will be available in plexi too. It's a challenge to drill the hole this deep but we have solved it!

    Here's the top itself:

    Cool. Any estimation of price?

Veeery long shot: will that be possible to connect it using parallel bridge with, let say, EK5870 FC block with respective link?

ggdh: i doubt about that (just as i doubt about if it's possible to connect different gpu FCs with SLI bridges). - To be able to do that inlets need to be lined up. They for sure are for both new universal blocks on same gpu-s, and same for same type of full covers, but if you mix them there is little chance for them to be positioned at same distance. For mixing full cover blocks and universal ones one should rather use something like swiftech's SLI bridge, were instead of hard mount fittings and tubing are still used to connect blocks with SLI bridge.

IMHO i had all reasons to ask this question: by looking at photos of CF with HFs and CF with FCs proportions are quite the same. And if there is only small difference (say: 2-3mm) what about placing Acetal spacer between FC's link (or HF's link - depends which is longer) and bridge itself.

I assume if it is possible to use the same bridge, the distance between inlet and outlet in both cases (HF and FC) has to be the same. Tiborr?

ggdh: as same bridges are used for both these new universal blocks & fullcovers, distance between inlet and outlet most probably is same already. Problem is that on different cards/blocks both inlet and outlet may be placed at different distance from back of case/end of card. On one - slightly to the right, on another - slightly to the left, with both inlet & outlet misaligned from inlet & outlet on different type of waterblock thus probably striking out option of mixing different gpus and different waterblock types. You can ask Eddy or tyborrr for check of inlet placement for some particular/specific cards/blocks, but i highly doubt in majority of different blocks being aligned.

I originally saw the 8.5mm clearance as not enough, but I see the predicament...

If you want to maintain the highest flow, you're going to need big bores through the connector to the block. In order to do that you're going to need that space over the ram. Increasing the clearance means you'll reduce the bore diameter of the connectors, thus increasing restriction and reducing flow.

Well done with the hand you were dealt EK!

skinnee: there is option of not round bores for both lower overall height of top / more clearance above ram and still keeping big cross-section by going from round to wider/lower. Might be more expensive to manufacture though(?).

Churchy: I should have specified: two 5870s, one with FC, another with HF Supreme.

Thank you for that compliment, skineee

ggdh: sorry, but that's not gonna happen. The ports on FC5870 are not aligned with the EK-VGA Supreme HF (Bridge Edition)

Do we have a price for these yet? Also, you stated that they will be released on November 1. Any idea when they might be available is the US?

Imo lower fitting place should be redesigned. It should be between card to not interfere with power cables and with power cables slots
    As on the screen
