I'm actually using a Intel 160 GB X25-M V2 SSD with the latest firmware connected to the first SATA port of the motherboard (-> this is the a SATA port, not marvel). The Intel diagnostic tool says the SSD is OK. I would think that the SSD is not causing the issues, since from time to time my mouse goes out, on, out, on for a few seconds, which seems to point to the motherboard. The only event that I can find in the Event log of the Event Viewer that could be SSD related is this one:

hi guys, i had this board (z68) for around 3-4 weeks now, amd i can understand why my bios keeps looping, then putting default cpu multiplier, only for me to go in and change it back to 48 and then boot into windows. it doesnt do this everytime, just mose time when booting up from cold, also when its looping (10 loops + sometimes) it sometimes retains the overclock, andother times defaults. this is the same for bios f8 and f9c. i cleared bios correctly after updating (disconnect powercord, hold cmos sw for 30secs +). settings:
    2600k at 4800mhz, 48x100, 1.475v, llc7, all disabled except HT, ram at 1.5v Gskill 1333mhz 7.7.7.21.

any ideas would be much appriciated

ALT + F12 works for sure!

Are you not doing it right maybe? Press and hold ALT as the system starts, and then press F12 many times fast while still holding ALT as the machine starts up. Keep doing that until you are asked if you want to flash the backup BIOS.

If it fails, maybe it's your keyboard? Try another PS/2 if you can.

Sorry to go offtopic, what's the best bench bios with the P67 UD5 ? We are benching that board tomorrow, atm the user has issues with the F5 with 2133 memory divider and ram speed timings (only cas 8 boots) Flares kit does 2200 CL6 on Asus boards, hope it can do similar clocks on the UD5...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

ok, so the alt+f12 finally worked, however the looping is still there but not as aggresive (like only 3 loops before booting). Stasio please could i have your bios template so i can mimic it to see where my problem lies.

    Thanks

Ouch. I was wondering if there was a UD5 thread. I just enabled XMP memory settings on mine (since I have PC1866 memory), and it's looking like Turbo Boost might have disabled itself in the process. Running x41 multiplier manually set, was hoping to ensure I got an even 3.7-4.1GHz, but I think it's staying at 3.7 and not moving.

I believe that Ivy Bridge should be compatible, but I think PCIe will be limited to 2.0, as the ICs for PCIe 3.0 compatibility aren't there like with MSI and Asrock boards.

The BIOS listing for my Z68XP-UD5 lists a revision (F3 I believe, I'm on F4) that documents "Support for 22nm CPUs".

The apparent exception to that rule is the Gigabyte Sniper, which apparently hac the correct Gen3 ICs. Either way, I don't think PCIe 3 will be something that is needed for a bit. What we need more IMO are more lanes, and those are only available on the X58/X79 chipsets and the LGA 1366/2011 platforms; the Z77 chipset that will replace Z68 has exactly the same number of PCIe lanes as its predecessor. That is probably because QPI (Quick Path Interconnect), only available on LGA 1366 and LGA 2011 processors, is required for the additional lanes.

this board was never on the PCI-E 3.0 list, NF200 has no PCI-E 3.0 capability as far as I am concerned. Asrock seems to think it does tho.

I don't think 10 levels will be the same on X79, but I am unsure

Over the past week i've been trying to figure out why i'm not able to POST with VGA Card that needs power from PSU. Problem started with P67 mobo using G.SKill 1600Mhz. System just keeps rebooting, LED ERROR CODE 26. i've tried ever trick to get it to post with one of my cards. Im able to POST using old NVIDIA Card that DOES NOT use Power from PSU. I've tried only using 1 stick ram, heat-sink, & card with each step and it does same thing it would if i had all hardware running. So 1st step to problem solve, I bought new G.Skill 1866 RAM, same problem. I bought Z68, new i7-2600k and heat-sink, same problem as P67 with old CPU. Tried VGA cards & old CPU on friends system and everything work. Bought new PSU, same ERROR Code 26!!!
