If pricing is around $230, AMD has a winner, and so do the people, Intel will soon be releasing the 2700K, im guessing they will lower the price to compete with AMD's aggressive pricing. I want both companies to have good products that compete with one another, why? guess what we the consumer wins in the end, we get better pricing and better prdoducts. As a kid i didnt have much money to spend, so i had to always use AMD for the better price/performance, AMD holds a special place for me, as it should for all of you, AMD has always forced Intel to compete, if AMD goes out of business do you think the 2600K would be $300? so lets all be mature and realize both companies play a big role and we want them both to be healthy![]()
AMDs marketing is rather weird, you would think they would announce the product shortly after they showed the 8.4ghz and benchmark to maximize any hype and attention it generated. Even if they can't ship any for 4 weeks retailers could put them up for preorder. Perhaps it is a deliberate marketing strategy, by not providing details they certainly have got everyone talking about bulldozer.
no i am just stating my own circumstance, i was not really looking for a debate about my needs, or wanting someone to talk me out of it. lol apparently some ppl do care though (judging by my pm box lol). i have a project that is time sensitive (server needing to be deployed..remember server is a software solution for the most part), so past Thursday i have to plan without BD.
lol but thanks for caring.![]()

All the matters is that AMD is competitive for the price and if I'm not mistaken Intel mentioned the high end gear accounting for something like 2% of total sales, definitely not the meat and potatoes of the industry.
I doubt we would even have unlocked K chips if not for competition from amd in the same price range.
The best thing that could happen for me is this helps push Intel offers cheap hex cores for s1366, that would get me by for another year or two without a major upgrade easily.

Some benchmarks for you guys, seems legit.
look at the last picture...
you both have been in here too long to put up with this crap. You're too good for this horse! Get benching with us and lets get the band back together. You guys have been in xs so long and you should be on the xs hw bot team and instead you are reading this crap arguing with kids. I used to work in a skateshop and you would get these little kids in there asking to try decks and they never bought anything or actually shredded. They just sat around in the shop watching skate videos when they should've been thrashing. I would get so frustrated because I felt like I was babysitting when I should've been ripping up the streets. You dont have to babysit these kids. Let them strip each other down to the most pathetic and immature level possible. Just sit back and and let them see who pisses further just like those hangout kids in the skate shop. XS NEWS!!! keep going dudes. make xs as crappy as possible! you are on the right track!

Yet you want them to bench against lower end instead of 980x on gaming. I rather have good CPU that could compete with 980x than compete 2500k with same price as 2500k. If AMD can do it then let them be. Don't complain that there benching against 980x. They should be competing with faster performance with the nice price tag than limit themselves.

obvious fail just by looking at the wprime score.
That source is the one whos name isn't spoken on this forum. JFK's assassin has more credibility then he does.
Anyone have an idea of the 8150's price? At first i heard 300, then 260 and now 220. Any concrete numbers?
Whats the point of even comparing it to Gulftown tho? Yes its a 6 core monster but wouldn't an 8150 vs 2600K be more of a fair comparo? Reason i ask this is because as soon as the 3960X gets released its going to be benched against the 8150 and people are going to say "Thats not fair. It's a thousand dollar processor against a 250 dollar one"

Tank Guys said their firm prices. And the 8150 is $260 bought from them
ESTIMATED availability:
Early October. Not at all a guarantee
Models / Pricing:
FX6100 X6 - $204.99
FX8120 x8 - $236.99
FX8150 x8 - $259.99
Caveats:
As most people are aware by now, my pricing is not the best. I don't have anywhere near the volume / purchasing power of places like Newegg, and I can't afford to sell stuff as loss leaders. At the prices I'm charging, I'd make less than $5 / chip. So in the interest of full disclosure, assuming these chips are widely available, I won't be cost competitive.
If, however, they are supply constrained, you can bet the farm that other stores will run the price sky high, and I won't.
Rig 1:
ASUS P8Z77-V
Intel i5 3570K @ 4.75GHz
16GB of Team Xtreme DDR-2666 RAM (11-13-13-35-2T)
Nvidia GTX 670 4GB SLI
Rig 2:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX
AMD FX-8350 @ 5.6GHz
16GB of Mushkin DDR-1866 RAM (8-9-8-26-1T)
AMD 6950 with 6970 bios flash
Yamakasi Catleap 2B overclocked to 120Hz refresh rate
Audio-GD FUN DAC unit w/ AD797BRZ opamps
Sennheiser PC350 headset w/ hero mod
Imo, 7Ghz+ FX8150 benchmark results are more important than the actual retail release date
I doubt it will be posted before the actual release date.....It will be an instant game changer for some peep that waiting patiently up untill now. Lol

I agree, and you will probably see the 8150 up against the 2500K/2600K in benchmarks. These tests were done by AMD and by definition is more of a "Demo" of their product, so they will show their product in the best light possible even if that means changing the target for each particular test. I believe Informal did some looking into this and he found Handbrake to be all over the place with performance numbers and the Dirt3 game is GPU limited so in reality the numbers don't show much, but the price does. Actually they both do these demos, remember this? http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...x-62,1263.html
