I'm okay with a case that has a tray with extra standoffs but with a motherboard the size of the sr-2 I do not want any part of the board unsupported.
I just drilled holes in the tray and used thumbnuts on the back of the standoffs.

Thank you for uploading the picture. I have been looking around and the xigmatek elysium looks to be a better choice for me. I especially like that it has holes for backplate access for both processors. The price is right too, Lian Li has amazing quality but with the SR-2 being an already expensive build I will try to save some coin on the case.

need the cooling on mobo and cpu's for that OC.

Air will not get to 5Ghz stable.

Yes Chiller is correct. 200 bclck is already a pain so the higher the multi the better. I am thinking of adding a loop for mb and gfx.
Pcie1 is right above the little cooler. Sounds like it will take off lol :x

The page bug is vbulletin... The last page actually doesn't exist so bug with large threads.

benchable yes, not 24/7 running, unless they have a really good cooling system on mobo,
like a heavy watercooling setup with triple rads etc....

But benchable is enough, not 24/7 stability needed for this "benchmark".

then for benching you could use a airco aimed at your mobo,
while you're cpu's have watercooling etc to keep it cool.

Well a watercooled setup like this, with a chiller in the loop will do the trick.

I rebooted and the SR-2 BIOS decided to corrupt again pos board. Ffs when I wanted to RMA it was suddenly fine and now it acts like this again. Sigh. I'm getting a sandy bridge I'm through with this .

Tutor - the contrarion on EVGA SR-2's

I'm an OSX/Win7 user and I under clock (unlimited multi) Intel Westmeres and Nehalems for turbo boost ratio of DDDDEE (hex) and DDDE (quad). It allows me (a) to keep my system voltages within spec VID, (b) achieve turbo boost within the range of 4.5 to 4.7 GHz, (c) keep my system temps (under load) to within a range of 65-50 degrees (C) and in the range of 25 to 33 degrees (C) (at idle) and achieve respectable benches, particularly on the EVGA SR-2. I always enable every power management / energy savings feature, including C1E, C,P,T states, PCIE power management, speed step, HPET, etc. Are there any other underclockers in this house?

i think the most SR-2 users 99.99% are OVERclockers and not UNDERclockers

Maybe with those who can take advantage of UNDERclocking (i.e., those with CPU's with unlocked multi's), that 99.99% ratio in favor of OVERclockers could be racheted downward to a flat 99% or lower.

That chiller looks small for that kind of load/voltages. Can it fold with CPU+GPU for weeks on end? > 1.40V VCORE is frighteningly high as well.

Yes it can but I'm running dual-loop and the GPU's are not on the chiller loop and I'm not folding with the GPU's, running bigbeta. >1.40 Vcore is not frighteningly high for me.

Does anyone know what fastest (or best for my needs) 48GB memory I can use with SR-2 without any bottlenecks?

I will be running it with dual X5690s and nVidia Quadro 5000. As you can tell I will mostly be using this system for Rendering and Video Editing.

I might add few GPUs later for games and assistance to Quadro 5000.

Cost of memory is not a big issue but will hate to waste bandwidth if CPUs can't handle it.

    Thanks

I use 48 gigs of Corsair, consisting of four CMX12X3M3A2000C9 kits. I create animations with Cinema 4d and Maya and edit video with Final Cut Pro. I have not experienced any bottlenecks. Ya. I got sick of both my SR-2's rather quick. So many issues that drove me up the wall.
