Should I buy the locked chip that is currently available, or wait for unlocked? I was going to order this weekend. Been bored and wanted to try out some chilled water....

Tough call man, maybe if it was me I would buy the cheaper/cheapest model as far as multi goes ( something in 27X range i guess ) for now seeing as I haven't even gone above 27X on phase or been able to use more, it might be quite a while before we see A-3870's so it will give you something to play with for now.

Of course, the money saved can be justified towards this for the A8-3850.........

You have a board? They have some nice combo A6-3650 + board combos with a free dirt 3 copy..... I like the ud2h combo.

I thought about trying out the Biostar, but haven't completely decided yet. I was checking out the combos and liked the free game. Thought it might be a good time to buy. Thanks for the input, I'll make a decision tomorrow, after I sleep on it

Dolk been scouring the web, found this for the hybrid 6670 with the A8-3850. Although not a review I tend to like this a tad better as it's indicative of realworld

Yah, I think Dolk specifically was curious about 6670 + 3850 hybrid performance though.

Damn chew, that cpu wont run more on phase change?Mine can do 3920 3dmark2001.Key was to use a voltage between 1.48-1.50 on air, anything higher and it will be stuck around 3800.I think with ln2 52-53K is perfectly doable Which is not bad for an IGP i guess.Altthough some SB cpu paired with 6550D will yield 70k like a breeze

Nah Alex this cpu's cores are turds especially core 0/1 but shhhh don't tell anyone that, I wouldn't want people getting the impression that retails are better than ES

Phase really doesn't gain you to much.

01 and AM3 I think can get pushed further with phase just need to spend some time on the benches and see what they like.

Depending on the motherboard your using depends on how much you will get out of phase change it seems. I got quite a bit out of my ud4 on phasechange, and the IGP was more agreeable on the hole using the board. I was working with the biostar TA75A+ last night and It really didn't scale to well on the phase change compared to the UD4. Though most of this was due to memory issues. I haven't tried the asus F1A75v-pro on the phase change. I have tried it on ln2 though I didn't really push it far enough to give a good reading of results.

The Ud4 agreed the most with everything i've done so far. I was able to take the chip up to 170bclk, Though at that point It was either a power or memory issue that preventing me from running 3d benchmarks. I didn't spend the time to Figure it out. This was at 29x multiplier for all these tests btw.

My phasechange setup is kind of weak. So thats why i am only comparing what i have in my possession not to other peoples results.

Refreshed a few more scores today.

    AM3

Alex 50K is looking more realistic on phase now

This is the score I worked on the most however, since I can't afford a chip to compete I will at least compete along side the guys in the hwbot giga comp.

That said 2k landmark is done in 3D 11

Fm link for s and giggles.

Very nice, I was hoping to put down more 3d benches today for the comp. But I ended up killing My good ram the otherday when going for first place in clocks on the 3850 it seems :\ I'll Pickup some more ram this week. Then jump back into the Mix.

Btw Very nice Submission on the bot ElGuappo at 1700+ in competition. You to chew

Cheers, now I need a set of GTX6 that cost 4 times what the apu does to go further

What is your GPU actually clocked to chew? Tried setting it to the 600 strap so we can have some comparable scores?

How have you killed your ram?I think PSC chips are very ressistend compared to D9(burned 5 kits) and hyper(2 again).

I haven't just need a nicer set, am on these atm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231449 they get the job done but it's a bit of a pain in the bum getting them running them over 2450 stable. For a $54 kit tho, very impressed.

pfft, gtx 6 can kiss my ass

This set is just about same cost as APU

The next set up from that set gappo ( 8-9-8) 2133 I have tested to work quite well in case you don't want to play the lotto.

Will keep an eye out Not much choice atm is there.

Have got a set of 2000 8-8-8 dominators to rma that I forgot about, will have to send them off and see what comes back.

Running scores off for you now with GPU locked at 600, without touching any other settings , which btw I can clock bclk much higher with GPU locked at 600 so they won't be the best possible at 600, just a ref of how much faster I am at these settings

Gappo, manually set 600 core clocks. Did not bother "optimizing" just ran at settings i've been running.

There is alot more in it ( bclk wise ) with ref gpu set at 600

My scores must be due to my ES advantage now eh

    Alex

Forgot to mention, tested K10 stat, voltages applied real and in cpu-z.

Thanks for that. I'm having to back off on the latency with these sticks to get them up to speed which is accounting for the lack of speed in comparison me thinks. Could run a higher base clock but with a lower strap but that would be pointless.

Think I have a slightly faster heaven and vantage on my stick with a little more core speed.

Man do these apu's give my phase a work out, hot hot.

Yah I'm using my weaker phase atm, Idle is better but load isn't so great, the other one barely budges.

I could optimize these runs but why bother heh, i'm well beyond these points now.

I got a bios you can try btw, no clue what fixes it has, haven't bothered with it yet.

Is your core temp going into the positives in the temp department on the weaker phase change?
