Can I ask P5Q Pro E8400 Question here?

This seems to be the only active P5Q Pro thread left. Before I post my question, I just want to know if I can post a question regarding my P5Q PRO/E8400 with E0 stepping and Corsair Twin2X. Also I am on Stock 1406 BIOS. What I will be asking, if it is OK is how to get back after loosing my CMOS settings. I seem to have lost the settings I used to get this going. It has worked for years. Memory is fine at 5-5-5-15 2T and DDR2-1066 at 2.1 volts. I just want to see if I forgot something as I tried to set the thing back to 400 X 9 or 3.6GHZ. I get strange issues when running XP pro again. So, can I ask here? I guess I already created a longer post than I expected!

    TIA

You can ask in the thread if you want, but you might get more responses by making a new thread

That sounds good. I can start a new thread. When a MoBo is new there are so many things to try and a lot of help available. It does not take long to be on with the next thing. I will do the same (P8P67?) but this P5Q Pro is fine for my wife.

    which one ?

in any case, I'd like to literally beg you to consider making another last update with official Intel OROM 10.5.x - because it seems very important esp. for SSD compatibility and so on.

btw: what does it look like when old OROM is in your mobo BIOS, and you install newest Intel (10.5.x for example) AHCI/RAID drivers (which include newer OROM (?): this newer OROM version from the driver gets loaded in memory, or older one from mobo BIOS lets loaded instead? I don't get it. Pleaae explain how does it work.

Once the O-ROM is updated in the BIOS, thats what is used. The O-ROM I used for the last update should be perfectly fine for SSDs, or at least most of them. I would just advise staying away from the OCZ Revodrive, brand new boards still have problems with that SSD.

    @Ket:

    Intel O-ROM v10.5.0.1034 was released (officially or not - I don't know)

    http://station-drivers.com/page/intel%20raid.htm

Could you integrate it into your mBIOSes, or at least say how to do it, please?

And, does this Intel O-ROM version (10.5.xxxx) even work with P45 (or rather, ICH10/R) boards like P5Q series - do you know it? (I don't know why it should not work, but still better to ask, I think).

So just to clarify things: if I flashed your mBIOS with Intel O-ROM v9.6.0.1014 integrated, and then I install Intel RST driver version 10.5.x.xxxx, then O-ROM v9.6.0.1014 will be loaded and used, right? NOT any (higher) O-ROM version from the driver? And last Q: Intel O-ROM is only used (loaded) in RAID mode set in mobo BIOS, not in AHCI/IDE modes?

I've also noticed that you reverted from Intel O-ROM 10.1.xxxx in previous MBIOSes release to 9.6.0.1014 in latest version - could you tell us why and what was the reason(s) for that move? Were there any issues with Intel O-ROM 10.1.xxxx version used previously?

    thank you

    1. Intel 10.5 ROM doesn't seem to work on P45 boards, anything above 9.6 doesn't seem to work right (or consistently at least)
    2. You will probably need to download a older RST driver, but not sure.

thanks for quick reply and the image.

Where can I get the tool used here (MMTOOL 3.22 BKMOD)? Could you up it somewhere?

    ===

"2. You will probably need to download a older RST driver, but not sure."

you mean newest RST driver v10.5.x.xxxx does NOT work correctly with Intel O-ROM v9.6.0.1014 ?

"1. Intel 10.5 ROM doesn't seem to work on P45 boards, anything above 9.6 doesn't seem to work right (or consistently at least)"

Have you tested it yourself? What are the symptoms? And, is Intel O-ROM onlt used/loaded in RAID mode?

I can't find MMTOOL anywhere - only some on Chinese (?) sites, but I'm afraid to download from there.

Ket, could you up the latest version (3.23?) somewhere, please?

and, have you tested P45 board with Intel O-ROM 10.1 or 10.5 integrated? What was the behaviour of the board?

oh, I see. Thank you once more for the "enhanced" version, then .

coming back to some Q's from previous posts, as I still don't get it 100%:

    1. I haven't tried newest RST drivers, you will have to try yourself and find out.
    2. 10.5 O-ROM is known not to work with the P5Q Deluxe, so theres no reason to think it would be any different for any other P5Q board.

Why would you change the memory table to an older BIOS of a cheaper board? (P5Q Pro Turbo).

Because the memory table for the P5Q Pro Turbo is better. Supports more memory across a wider range.

Any possibility of a vanilla P5Q 2209 mBIOS? Would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty sure I covered the vanilla P5Q with the last mBIOS batch. Those mBIOSes pretty much max out compatibility, stability and overclocking. They just aren't going to get any better.

I would rather start checking what's wrong with your hardware before trying modded BIOS. First you must write more about your configuration. What hardware is installed, what PSU you have, under what conditions those freezes happens etc...

I suggest making another thread in appropriate forum section for this.

    P5Q Pro, Q9650 OC to 4Ghz

    Hi,

I'm new here and I have been trying to overclock my Q9650 on my P5Q Pro MB, but I can seem to get it stable. My memmory is Kingston HyperX T1 1066MHz DDR2 2x2GB and CPU cooler is
    Thermalright Silver Arrow.

    Setting i'm using now are.

    multi: 9x
    fsb:450
    fsb strap: auto
    PCIE: 100
    ram: 900
    timings: 5-5-5-15
    performance level: auto
cpu voltage: 1.36V (tried voltage as high as 1.42V did not help)
    GTL ref: 0.61x
cpu pll: 1.56V (have tried pump pll voltage up to 1.8V, but no help here either)
    fsb termination: 1.36V
    ram voltage: 2.20V
nb voltage: 1.36V ( have tried voltage up to 1.4V)
    llc: enabled
    CPU spread spectrum: disabled
    PCIE spread spectrum: disabled
cpu and nb clock skew: normal
    cpu margin enhancement: performance

I updated Ket's latest P5Q Pro mBIOS but did not help either. I have been trying three days now to get my system stable and i'm out of options here. Anyone got any ideas how to get my system stable?

System fails in less then 5min using OCCT.
