    What will you be using as the alternative method for issuing a secure erase? Please consider using hdparm with a linux live CD such as System Rescue CD - https://ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/ATA_Secure_Erase. I have always used this method and have had good results.

    Edit: I can't comment on this method's effectiveness of resetting SF throttling, however.
