there was a story a while back that intel was coming up with a new design for the standard cooler.

the airflow blocking concerns are probably valid. intel may want more board cooling than a standard tower heatsink provides, and thus might come up with something different that has a fan blowing down...

put your ram block in parallel, that way you half the restriction instead.
it is only ram it doesn't need full flow.

I love how the flagship (patsburg) x79 platform doesn't get native USB 3.0 support but all the shoddy panther point derivatives will get it..Z77 Z75 H77 Q77 Q75 B75 - 4 ports too!

Here's something for all you 4 dimm slots is not enough cry babies.

An ASUS !!concept board!! that combines s2011 with s1366:

Hope vendors don't fall for all the whining and keep the enthusiast/overclocking boards with 4 dimm slots only as speed should be emphasised over capacity on those. Workstation and server boards on the other hand are more than welcome to use 2 or more slots per channel.

Concept ofc, but how would the X58 and X79 talk to each other? QPI Links?

Concept board.... without a real market, none the less a cute gimmick.
So first you can have LGA1366, and at launch day, you change to LGA2011... I think that is the real purpose?

Well, the Danshui Bay board can actually run both CPUs simultaneously, something that obviously didn't get through...

My mind has just been blown.

Can't say that would be useful at all. But nifty nevertheless.

Here is to hoping some manufacturer decides to make a dual socket overclocking LGA2011 board.

I'm liking the double clamp socket mechanism- should make for more even pressure across that long package.
Also liking the threaded socket retention mechanism- no more PCB through hole junk with pushpins and backplates etc.

Hmm.. Since I assume this is board is about keeping your old hardware since LGA 1366...

ASUS, can you build me a board with all of the Intel sockets in the past 3 years:
LGA 2011, 1567, 1366, 1156, 1155?

Not a great sign for SB-E overclocking unless they specifically had in mind a Xeon 8c/16t lower clocked SB-E (like the ES we have seen, but with retail-higher clocks.) But who knows... maybe they were drunk when they thought up this monster or i'm just reading into the last half of the sign too much (or else they would have combined a 1155 + 2011 if they wanted clocks + threads.) Regardless

for Asus for even showing such a wacky design
