Thats because Z68 is almost identical to P67 Shame Asrock didn't do away with that super craptacular PCH "heatsink" (and I use that term very loosely) that thing is just awful for cooling.

Got mine with me now, looks like a great piece of kit.

Even if the PCH is not great I am sure the fact that I am using a Silverstone FT-02 will help out with the cooling in that area

I would strongly recommend at least replacing the TIM used on the PCH, giving the PCH "heatsink" base a little lap if it needs it, and replace the pushpins with a few screws and washers. Doing that will ensure its as effective as possible without the hassle of trying to replace it. At stock settings by doing those things it should be the difference of around 5-6c even at idle.

will that void the warranty though? can I use some IC24 as TIM?

If a mobo has ever died on me I've never been denied RMA because I replaced the TIM. Replacing TIM and using a few screws with washers isn't going to kill a board anyway so I wouldn't think theres a problem. If you ever need to RMA, just take off the screws and replace them with the stock pushpins. No foul, no crime

I've never used the stuff but I've heard its not too bad, certainly better than the stock TIM.

Will the IGD Multi monitor enabled in bios, hook up one monitor to the MB and the other to your graphics card. Now with Virtue off do you still have Quicksynch?

No one has answered this question about Z68 and I think it is an important one, it works on the H67 and frankly was a more important feature than being able to overclock the cpu (to me and a few others paying attention.)

I guess the lingo we are looking for is discrete graphics with non-virtu enabled Quicksynch.

    Thanks

It will be good if you could test the eSATA port, see if you have the same problems I have been having!
