^^ I don't remember the name of the areca engineer but he was very cooperative/responsive.
Unfortunately - no luck on a fix.
About disabling the cache - sure - performance takes a big hit.
But you know - the 4GB cache is why I bought this card in the 1st place - why would I want to run w/o it?
My areca POC also reported that all 1880's with expandable cache and one or more of the 1680 series all have built in expanders and as such the acards will not run with these controllers at sata300.
Now that said - there are 1880s that do not have the expander and in those - the acard's will run at sata300 - areca tested this.
I didn't want to go that way because the cache was something like 512 or less - not what I was looking for.
You have very good options with the acards though - i believe they run well across most controllers.
Particulary - they seem to like the SB P67 PCH.
This is hopefull in that they may also perform well later this year when SB-E arrives.
All acards that I have are personal property and I doubt I'll be interested in selling any until I find something faster.

''areca engineer but he was very cooperative/responsive'' YEEAAHH

areca worck actualy for find a solution ? or never find a solution ?

disable cach its interessant for compare and see the real storage bandwidth, in bench and reél using this 4G bufer its very fun and powerfull

Its incredible sata 300 bug in this 1880ix, I can understande sata I 150 not worck but sata 300 ....

If you can tel areca for not IRAM compatibility with 1880ix, I think its just due to this device is not add in compatibility device suport. sata I certenely worck with this HIHIHIIHI

The good perf with SB its due to the PCIE direct in CPU, this is very good.

I have already test the lost bandwidth due to the nf200 (in my SR 2). The latency its very bad and lost lots IOPS .
nf200 very SUXXX prefer two 5520 for lots PCIE, hihi ...

""All acards"" 16 acard at you ????????? you have just 28G total volume ?

Its just for great PCm score ?

    I have a noob question:

the frontal port can be using ?
    its desactivated or not ?
I m not find the good cable conecteur for this.

Sorry, I do not use that port at all, not even sure what connects to it.
I do use the external ethernet port, that comes in real handy.
Nice to be able to access the card w/o needing to go thru the host machine.

I am using the external port for external hddbay It is just an external minisas port. Working just like the other internal minisas ports

Perfect for testing ssd and hdd
The SFF-8088 to SATA x 4 is very expensive

With this cable the Areca 1880-24 have 28 ports! All working at the same time.
