Bad news, 25.000 tons of highly contaminated water have accumulated in the tunnels.
Good news, it will now be pumped into processing facility.

I don't get why they pumped water into the ocean to begin with if they have a processing facility nearby???
Probably something was preventing this action. Broken systems at the processing facility, unable to get pumping equipment where it needed to be....

Drill at tokai plant shows it could not stabilize its reactors in case its cooling system failed. Backup generators and pumps are too weak

Robots face difficulties in the reactors, lots of debris and in reactor2 there's a very high humidity, probably caused by a leak of contaminated steam leaking directly from the pressure vessel of the reactor core.

Cheap for them? Since when does Japan give F#$# about the Ocean besides overfishing it? Nevermind after this tsunami they will...

    Should just bury it.

Build a new gen plant. And be done with it.

Though this plant stood up to slot. It was meant to be closed down and it's safety featured are not even close to gen 2 let alone the newest planned ones (g5 I think?) newer ones would have been fine aswell.

I didn't think they had a processing facility.
Pretty sure I read that in one of those cables or some kind of interview, that they had to export all there waste...

Unless it's just for heavy water, in which case I think those smashed up flood gates were for...

Lol, lets just keep it in a pool, open air, let it sit there for a week then release it into the ocean.
I'm not sure that's what they used to do or not.
But from that screeny I posted some pages back, it looked to me that most of that setup was beyond fixing near term.

I "think" they were more concerned with getting the reactor cooled down then thinking things through.
And now they are just sticking to there guns for some reason or another.
Perhaps they want to keep the plant running, beats me.

At this point I have to believe that they are doing more harm then good .

6-8 months? ^^, you gotta be kidding...
the amount of water needed to fill the reactor pool or more, every day, draining to the ocean and into the ground.
6-8 months of the same level of rads...

I know I'm the avg stupid common person, but still that just seems like a screwed idea up to me.

I guess in the end it could be used as a hot spring...
Rejuvenating positive ion hotspring, takes years away...
    I'm just messing, sorries...

    Thanks but that needs silverlight.

The asx file contains this link:
    mms://nhk-world.gekimedia.net/nhkw-highm

Which is only playable in microsoft's player...

I'm gonna try installing silverlight I guess :|.
Hope it works in opera... (edit: nah it don't support opera...)

I found this a min ago:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqCKH0s-orI

I 1st noted that there was a court hearing on a nuke plant in japan and that the public won the case against the plant, yet the plant said to F off and continued anyways.

Now I see something similar in india, the public doesn't want the plant, but the company says screw you we'll doit anyways.

How nice..., even if we voted on it and won the vote, they still doit anyways...

    Edit:
Silverlight said unsupported browser on the download page.
But I installed anyways and it worked fine in opera .
Maybe the official page works now...

Hmm, breast milk found to be radioactive, but levels are safe.

That us ambassador importing saki from the Fukushima prefecture lol.
To prove things are safe he drinks it, and plans on importing a few bottles into the us...

Countries blocking imports from japan, over fears of radioactivity.
    But this is unacceptable,... lmao.

Reminds me of the show survivor last night (yeah I know, but I'm getting into it, been watching that over my buddies).

One teams rice has gone bad, has maggots.
So they want to mix there rice with that of the other teams.
The other team says no way.
This is "unacceptable", you gotta be nice to each other at times like this.
So that goofy dude with the feather on his head says, I'm gonna steal your rice when you're not looking and mix them anyways.

Lmao, if you tried this with me..., 1st I'de knock you out and then I'de tie you to a tree and leave you there, you can eat the maggot rice...
(Edit: maybe that's a bit extreme, but I still wouldn't let you ruin all of the food, instead share the good stuff and go fishing, and trash the bad stuff, bad stuff + good stuff = bad stuff.)

That's my stance, I wouldn't take a single import until this radioactivity prob has been dealt with.
But that's me, business wise it's business as usual, at least it will be.
Bring on the radioactive imports .

Also found some more info a min ago, older news but...
Onagawa nuclear plant fire in Miyagi Prefecture, no radiation leaks reported.
Radioactive water leakage at the same plant 2 weeks later.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110408/...s_japan_leak_2

Note this very same plant has had some probs in the past as well.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onagawa...ar_Power_Plant

My opinion, you don't wanna know lol.
    I'm just reporting the news.

    Edit:
Umm supposedly there are 4 nuke plants in japan acting up right now, or so I was told.
I didn't do any research to confirm though.

i think countries are stopping imports from japan cause they dont trust the japanese gov anymore... and can you blame them?
doing checks on radioactive contamination isnt free... if you can get the same goods somewhere else without the need for checking whether somebody is selling you rotten apples, why would you even consider buying them from an untrustworthy merchant?

this is what you get for bsing everybody, cant believe how the gov is now whining about how unfair it is and pushing other governments to FORCE imports to continue... wtf?
makes you realize how the political landscape in japan works... your not elected by the people FOR the people, youre the grand master and everybody has to shut it and do as you say lol

To take this off of the political and back to the reality of what happened I ask that you watch this video.
I like most of you have seen many of the videos taken but this one in particular reached into my heart and showed me what these poor souls went through.
I don't know more than 5-6 words of Japanese but you don't need to understand the language. The sheer terror in the voices doesn't need translation.
All I could think watching this was "My God"..

I have watched alot of the tsunami vids and they are all so sad to watch but this one scared me the most so far. I guess it's smart to pick the right building. The person filming is more brave than I am.

Oh man, the whole time I was thinking NO WAY the water is gonna rise to the top of that building but it did. Guessing the camera man got extremely lucky and lived thru that one. Nature is not to be screwed with, thats 4 sure.

You sound as if he is actually brave to film. Instead he is just trying to run to the high ground and stay alive. And he is just lucky enough to have his near death log/video published.

Taller concrete buildings tend to have deeper foundation so they dont just get flood away. If Tsunami happened around California, all of the residential housings will be gone.
