Maybe more than is necessary. obviously that's why they back it up with the marketing department, to convince the average joe that the apple way is better because of 'x'.

at the heart of it, they're like the bently of the computer world. I know I can get (most) BMWs and Mercs way cheaper and get better performance out of them, but certain bits are polished that bit extra that makes a bently what it is over a BMW or a Merc. obviously not in all cases, i realize that, but seeing what kind of absurd machining went into some of their laptops for the sake of making most of the case a heatsink, it's not a wonder they charge what they do.

Asus is better then those two.

Knowing this IF i have problem with hw and sw rather go get asus stuf coz better support for sw and hw, i may have on foture.(im not talking one product here)
So i chose asus, instead apple product

Truth. HP/Compaq laptops, all that I've seen are super noisy. You're right on the Acer part.

Though tbh, I hate all of today's laptops. Their screens are gloss, the spacings between each dot on the screen is huge enough that you see lines for the keen-eyed without looking for it, and a lot of them can't bend 180.

I can't seem to get the feeling of "this laptop's screen sucks" out whenever I use today's laptop. Someone should raise the standards or I'll have to buy those really expensive laptops.

the iPad is generally cheaper than the competition, superior battery life and at this point has higher performing chips in it.

Appel software is to buy software.

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

Don't even see the difference from the old logo
Acer is going down, mark my words

And I predict that ASUS will pick up the useful leftovers once they are broke... won't take too long...

Oh and foxconn will probably take over whatever asus doesn't want or need

I don't care, though i'd prefer a more techy looking logo really. Their products are quite good and cheaper than competitors, though their EMEA support is a completely useless joke.

I still adore my Acer G24 monitor, but I dislike everything else they make :p

Their monitors are very decent though.

The image quality and colour intensity on the G24 is beyond impressive for a TN + Film panel, though it was one of the most expensive ones you could get, but I think it was worth the extra price at the time.

Now you can get a better 27" monitor for the same price I paid though

    I would not be surprised.

If Acer thinks that they can change the font of their logo and miraculously be on the same level as Apple Corp. in

    build quality
    consumer perception
    customer loyalty

... then their marketing department is way off.

It's as if KIA wants to be like Porsche. Not going to happen. Different demographics, and their reputation is pretty much already set.

Acer is synonymous with the word "low budget"

Acer should stick to what they are good at - giving the masses affordable products at reasonable prices.

I owned an Acer Aspire One(still works) it was great for an Atom based PC. My AAO had excellent build quality was very inexpensive ($169CAD) and works perfectly to this day. Good computers at reasonable prices.

There's no way a logo change can make Acer into Apple. In order to accomplish that transmogrification Acer would need to persuade the overly moneyed buffoons (typical apple customers) to buy the same mediocre hardware for 2-3x higher prices.

I'm not a Mac hater, I just mourn for Apple computers. Apple isn't dead but undead they've been zombified. I owned the first mac back in '85 and it was awsome. Apple used to make technologically superior computers which is why they dominated the graphic design workstation market now it's the same old in designer colors bogged down by restrictive proprietary crapware. Apple has swapped innovation for marketing all the while writhing masses of brainless consumers slaver over the colorful turds it s out.

Not much of a change, just a new color for the most part.

Looks like they finally noticed they used a different font for the "e" in Acer, and corrected it. Not newsworthy.

You gotta admit though, Apple's cases are unmatched in the computer industry. Especially the Mac-Pro tower systems.

Apple or how to create needs why you don't need them, and sell PC components overpriced.
And so many people just buying because of the "state of the art" stylish white glossy plastic finish? That's just a bunch of sheep buying loads of marketing BS.

I know acer doesn't make them, but I've found from working on laptops that Acer generally uses the cheapest junkiest laptop OEM for their lower-end laptops and in the past even the midrange. Don't know about higher-end, but I've just learned to stay away from Acer laptops in general and stick with Asus or MSI built units.

That's because they all jumped on the pseudo-HD bandwagon, or in other words the crap 1366x768 resolution because it is "HD 720p" - yuck. Since when did we want laptops with screen resolutions virtually equivalent to 8 years ago of 1024x768? I find it hard to find any decent resolution on a laptop anymore.... That's one reason why I still use my old IBM T60, 15" 1600x1200. Sure it isn't widescreen, but I still have more space than most of today's widescreens

Yeah only douchebags knock Acer laptops considering what they've been up to; About a year ago they started releasing full blown gaming laptops (note laptops not pointless desktop replacements) with fast cpus and videocards for around $600, this was unprecedented and to this day no one can touch those great HD5650 budget gamers for $600~

Needless to say I own one and the overall quality, fit and finish is much higher and design sleeker/cleaner than you will get on any Asus, Dell, HP or whatever granted its not one of their pretentious overpriced underpowered specialty laptops. After a year I still love mine. I just hope this new turn isn't going to get to Acer's head, from this topic heading it seems so :-\
