    X58A-OC Final Board Unboxing!!!!!!

I figured a lot of you want to see what the final, retail version of the X58A-OC board look like. Well today the fedex man from heaven dropped by while I was at work. I got a call my significant other, and she was saying i had a new package. I asked her to open the pamphlet and read the description, and out comes the words "X58A-OC" as if she just read a serial number. While I sat there at work, my heart dropped, and what I said next will stay between her and I. Needless to say I was debating really hard to try and leave work early, this board I had been waiting months for had just arrived unannounced. I was so excited, today has to be one of the most exciting days of built up anticipation finally expressed!!!!!!!!!!

This board, is a piece of art. From the man behind board, Hicookie, come a creation that makes every overclocker drool on their keyboards. Needless to say this board lives up to all the hype, it really is a board to get excited about. A board made just for one purpose, and one purpose only, OVERCLOCKING! honestly, they did a terrific job at GIGABYTE, and times like these makes me want to try and get a job at a company so smart!

For now I leave you guys with pics of the final box, its accessories (you get 7 (seven) voltage reading DMM attachments!!), and some close ups of the board, and WITHOUT a heatsink. Enjoy!

    wait for it!!!!

    Wait for it!!!

    HERE WE GO!!!

    WITHOUT Protection!

I cannot wait to analyze these!!!!!!

I love DIP switches that actually do something!!!! bring me more!!!

So tomorrow the 13th or Thursday the 14(most likely, because 13 is unlucky) you guys will have a full throughout review and analysis of the VRM, switching frequency, inductors, and how this 12 phase VRM keeps up with its 24 phase brother!!! Yes guys thats 9400uF of bulk output capacitance(100% tantalum POSCAPs on this board)!!!

So the performance review will be followed by Overclocking reports, the first will be Dry Ice this weekend and that will come with a performance review.

Then the next weekend I am going to go all out with LN2.

I am finally getting back in subzero cooling i once knew and loved, and this board is the reason why, and I have to thank GIGABYTE for this!

I am like a young kid on Christmas day!

What was the pricing on this board supposed to be?

One problem I have with this board - no PCI 1x slot in betwen the middle two Orange slots

This is a very important slot position for people running two graphics cards plus a soundcard, it gives you 3 slot spacing for two GFX cards in 16x slots 1 + 3 (the third slot massively improves heat dissipation and reduces GPU temps), and a slot for a soundcard in the middle.

For a board this expensive, the slots should at least be done right, as the layout on the R3E is.

The thing is, it won't be that expensive. This will be atleast 100 dollars cheaper than the r3e. Compared to r3e and the classified, this is much cheaper.

This is not a "regular consumer" mobo. It's basically build for serious benching.

That's why it's simply called X58a-OC and not GB XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX58 I'll screw your mom FTW Head Shot Edition.

Good thing I use an external DAC via USB.

Yeah, its massively important to my PI or 3DMark runs to have a soundcard.
Suggest you familiarise yourself with the needs of an overclocker and then reassess your judgment.

@Sin, you seem a little too excited by a motherboard.

Haven't you heard? This is the first ever board for overclockers and overclockers don't need no extra crap...at least that's what I heard

*sigh* How long must I wait to get this board?
(and this board will be my first x58 board which I buy with my own money LOL )

But I just wonder, did OC Board need soundcard? Suppose they can cut some more $ by cutting down the SC.
*as for my daily use, I use USB SC which comes from my Plantronics GC-777 headset, works like a charm*

Need to make compromise with sales team. If the sales say that they can't sell a board without audio, management will not approve production.

Well I have spotted it on a Norwegian site which states it will get a couple in on the 29th of this month.

However i do remember that when Komplett operated in the UK as well they were often "ambitious" with their in stock date estimates....

I wish some people would read up on stuff before commenting on how it's missing this or that.
I feel like I will be explain to a ton of people how this is not a gaming board.

Giga is deviating from standards to make sure we can have fun and push the envelope.

Sin you lucky b4st4rd, GIVE ME THAT!!!!

Regarding the price, hopefully it has not changed? I'm excited as long as it hits below 350 Euro on European market, 299 would be "1337"

*And the soundcard is in the X58-chipset package, so, would not make sense to save it, basicly it is just traces and the plug, done job, VERY cheap..

    ON THE OTHER HAND;
USB3 and SATA3 are uncalled for expenses that are demandend by some.
For PCMark, a raid controller is used, USB3 without being in the chipset does not allow us installing OS faster through USB3 dongle, not that I have tried
