Windows installation does not find HDD

K so I am tearing my hair out over this.

1x SATA WDBlack drive, detected in BIOS no problems.

    -tried switching controllers
    -tried switching channels
-tried installing Intel® ICH10R driver from USB (7 wouldn't pick it up)
-tried drive in another system, works like a charm
-tried other known good drives in system, Windows wont pick them up either
-made sure controller was set to IDE...when that didn't work with the above steps tried ACHI
-tried switching from 7 to Vista...same deal

    Doooon't know what to do.

Have you tried to do a format on the drive in another system?
Just thinking the bootsector/boot manager might be ruined and Windows is hiding it because of that.

    What mobo is this?

Yup--stuck it in my running system and formatted/mounted it no worries.

This is the Foxconn Bloodrage board.

Thanks for your help, btw. Hopefully we can figure this out.

If it came from a RAID array then it doesnt have a complete boot sector. (i think)
Use a partition program to rebuild the boot sector and you should be good.

You guys have pointed me in a good direction... I will work on it and let you know.

    *EDIT*

    I love you guys. =)

I tried to rebuild the boot sector using Bootrec.exe but didn't have any luck there. Then I tried a free program called EASEUS Partition Master and it worked--had to really nuke it good to get it going again.

Anyways, thank you very much for the help. I feel a little bit silly but I am happy to be rid of that headache.

You should have been able to do that on your Win7 machine.
After installing the dive and booting to desktop right click on "Computer" and select "Manage".

Then go "Disk Management" and Initialize the drive from there.

All drives that I have had in a Raid before have shown up there and allowed me to initialize and format from there.
