It would be a matter of getting them to not lock the PC version at the level needed for the game to run in consoles. But if you think about it, depending on what feature you're talking about it might or might not be feasible.
Crysis 2 on the PC suffers from artificial limits imposed at the design stage which were made with the consoles in mind.
You get relatively narrow and static environment (A city instead of a jungle), indestructible trees, boxes and even light posts (For real) and other kinds of stuff.
If they make the necessary changes in the maps to enable that and other features for the PC version then you will be dealing with a noticeably different experience, and that goes against the usual focus of multiplatform titles were "All versions are the same".
Check the tech demo videos for Cryengine 3. It's just as capable as Cryengine 2 is if not better. Crysis 2 simply doesn't give the engine a proper use for the reasons stated above.
The moment they release the mod tools (If they ever do) we will be able to see the real capabilities of the engine, by making maps and stuff with actual physics all around for example, just like in Crysis.
This however does not justify the fact that they specifically disabled any kind of deep graphical customization, or that they used the same low res textures as the console versions when they had high def versions of them ready to use. That's simply not giving a.
This is why Crysis 2 is a terrible example of the engine they are trying to sell, features and capabilities wise.
It, however, shows that the thing can run in Microsoft's and Sony's money-printing boxes, which is what really matters to most potential licensees after all...
In short, make a PC only game to get your tech to the infinite and beyond, or suffer the Lowest Common Denominator syndrome.

BTW I have heard that there will be 3 patches for Crysis 2, the first of which primarily addresses online issues and security exploit fixes. The other will address bugs reported by the end users as the 3rd... well anyones guess. Hopefully the DirectX11 content will becoming in the third patch.
After all nVidia have released the 270.51 BETA drivers which includes Command Lists and DirectX11 Multithreading.

Stop looking at the walls, look out the window
After having played a couple of hours on my rig with this game I am very disappointed.
*Can't save, only checkpoints... <- This is the absolute worst.
*Can't set "advanced" graphic settings in game, although it's nice not to have the game reboot every time you change something.
*The new suit controls/HUD are a bit daft and there is no health bar anymore...
*Dual pistols, give them back!
*The game feels super linear compared to Crysis 1.
*The enemy can see you through walls and have insane accuracy regardless of distance. <- This is just silly (On veteran difficulty)
*Some times the textures are absolutely awful.
My computer struggles with this game at gamer quality, barely 30fps @ 1920*1200. But this I kinda expected =) (EDIT, NVM, Crossfire was not enabled... lol. And now there is a lot of flickering... yay.

Oh yes apparently already people who use a PSX emulator are benefiting from this already and Civ 5 users are enjoying the boost too
Fingers crossed the wait for more enhancements for existing DirectX11 games as well as Crysis is not that long now... perhaps the developers might wait until 270 goes WHQL before they start releasing the patches though.
Yep nVidia release notes claim a 7% performance increase in Civ5 (on GTX580) however users are reporting higher numbers than this. If you play Civ5 and have an nVidia DirectX10+ card you may wish to give these drivers a try.
Sadly I had to rollback to 266.58 as they did not play too kindly in Batman:AA on my 295

I wonder if this fixes that stupid error where you can't even get into multiplayer, hopefully it does.
EDIT: Nope, they haven't, still persisting.

Combine it with rygels texture pack and xigmateks physics/particel mod and you get Maximum Awesomeness and a game that even makes todays highend rigs screm... with a game that is now nearly 4 years old.
Xigmateks mod:
Here a older version, but shows good effects:

As for the patch... another extreme fail form crytek.. there MP cheat fix was nothing more then ignoring the unpaked pak files in the game directory... despite that peopel still get random disconnets, people still can play MP with random key and in SP nano catalyst is still buged...
But with this they also locked down the possibilty to replace textures... normal you can just unpak the pak file in the game directory and then replace the texture.. now this option is gone... gg. Also i doubt this will stop people form modifieng there xml files... all they need to do is to import there modified xml into the pak file... and there are tools out there where you can do this.
Instead of opening it up, with every patch they lock crysis 2 down more and more.![]()

...so i almost beat the game and now they officially announce they'll release a dx11 patch. great... NOT. i guess i'll never enjoy the game in full dx11, since it'll be collecting dust on my rack when i finish it :O

hence the reason I have not touched it since i played the first 10 minutes. I played through those first 10mins many times however and I am totally disappointed with how the game looks and runs. With the newest driver (270.51) i get MASSIVE flickering in everything but "high" very high and extreme are totally unplayable. With the 267 beta driver it runs pretty good on extreme but only uses on out of my 3 cards...
the thing that burns me though is how it says all over the box that the game is "3D ready" and it was a huge marketing thing for them to push the game with great 3D support.... Crysis warhead not only looks better in 3D buts runs better as well. the 3D in Crysis 2 is a joke and causes flickering for me on all drivers.... maybe it's nvidia's fault, maybe it's Crytek's fault. it's prob a combination of both. i also noticed that the 270.51 drivers break my Crysis and Crysis Warhead DX10 support... I hope the WHQL driver does not have these issues. but I will be waiting till the DX11 patch comes anyways to play through it fully. if the game sucks I want to play it the first time with the best it can give me....

That is what I thought, but apparently the DirectX11 Patch requires DirectX11 hardware only
I do indeed hope I am wrong, and Cry-Adam as typed things slightly bluntly and also you are correct
But as it stands Maxium Fail has
1) Currently no Multi GPU support (both SLI and Crossfire suffers horrific flicerking which is not driver related).
2) No 64Bit Support
3) No AF (you have you force this and it can look odd).
4) No True FSAA
5) Currently no DX 11/10 support.

Yeah the game is aweful in sli mode. I had to disable sli mode to run it and only one GPU was doing most of tThe work. Crysis and warhead fared soo much better. This is after trying drivers 266 and the beta 270 something.
Thinking about it i think I'll leave the game till later when the newer patches come out and some drivers too.

This game is alot of fun in my view. Suit controls are done right with one click access to any feature on the fly and the game is a lot more fun than 1st one.
That is the one thing I do like.
One touch access to "Maximum Armour", "Maximum Cloak" etc is very good and helps gameplay and makes you feel one with the suit.
I macroed it for Crysis
Well gatecrasherlok I have posed the question to Crytek (along with DX10 fallback support if any)
I will post if they get back to me.
nVidia have told me that they are looking into the SLi issues and have been since the demo was released, but none of their usual driver work around methods are working.
They have set the AFR2 profile as this usually does help with similar issues, but there really is no joy here.
nVidia are also working on fixing SLi for Crysis on G200 GPU's (as it was broken in Forceware 195+)
