How high can you load windows with CPU PLL disabled? 2600K owners

I have gone through 5 cpu's now trying to find one that can load windows @ 48X + with CPU PLL disabled in order for standby to work properly.

@ last I got my hands on a cpu from a member here and it can do 48X.
It did 49X once, but not again

    All previous 4 cpu's stopped @ 45X or 46X

If a cpu POSTS into BIOS with PLL disabled, does that mean it will also load windows (assuming vcore is proper?)

Because both my 2600k's make it into BIOS at x49, but at x50, it immediately shows x34 and overclock failed, right away. No boot loops, failed posts...x50 just shows x34 :P (unless I enable PLL of course).

Three of the chips I tested would only do 46x and one would do 53x with pll disabled.

They must have changed something in the Bios. Because I know for sure I would get the blinking cursor when I tried to boot at + 5000 with PLL disabled. Now I can boot at 5200 with PLL disabled. 53-54-55-56x it locks up at the windows logo no matter what Vcore but no blinking cursor?? All the pics are booted to windows with PLL disabled. two 2600k both could only post up to 4.4 solid or 4.5 sometimes on a ud4 with pll disabled
with cpu pll enabled they could both do 4.9ghz stable without going over 1.45v on water one needed ~1.415v the other needed ~1.425v to complete 1 hour occt with ht disabled
L041B739 was one of the cpu's both purchased at same time

so once again it looks like i have dud cpu's
although ok with pll i realy liked being able to use standby

Very good results, highest I've seen @ 52X....but does standy work? can you put the pc to sleep and then resume?

Also keep in mind, that some bios really don't change some settings without a proper reset, so the only way to know if CPU PLL has been disabled is by putting the PC to sleep and trying to resume again.

I tried updating my new B3 P8P67 Deluxe to the 1502 bios but I get an error that reads, "bios file is not an EFI file"

Playing with my other PC right now but next time I hook up the sandy I will check the sleep function. I had no issues with loading the new bios. Did you get it from massmans link? Asus P8P67 Deluxe 1502

Just got back on the sandy rig and tried. It will not resume or even try to wake up at any setting icluding default. Probably something in windows because it's not receiving a wake up signal. I don't ever use the power saving features on my PC's as they get shut off when not in use. Last time I used stby was on a Q 6600 rev B.

    Thanks for testing...

Probably what I thought was going on...
Sometimes some changes in the bios don't really take effect unless you do a full reset. It seems that your CPU PLL is stuck @ ENABLED and that's why it fails to resume from standby even @ a lower multiplier or stock speed.
All boards should resume just fine @ stock or whenever cpu PLL is disabled.

from my testing i found that if i disable speedstep and cstates i'll get the blinking cursor. If it's enabled it hangs at the loading screen

    No problem at all.

I think the bios settings were working because when I enable PLL it will boot right up to 56x. Disabled will boot to 52x but any higher I get stuck at the windows logo.

Got into windows at X49 with PLL disabled.

    Proof:

50x100 just immediately says overclock failed unless I turn on PLL.

I can get in BIOS no problem at 54x100. No idea what vcore I need to load windows, though (didn't test).
