    i can say that my evga 1.000vid , never saw 70 C* even with stock cooling, 950/960/965 1.100 > 85% fan, now that i've koolance'd my evga, can't have 1ghz ... as don markoni did :|

    (btw, i'm wondering why isn't present yet a gtx 580 official/overclocking, or whatever official 3d, like 460/560/570 has )

    Mines 1.082 VID, so it's not far off yours. Yet it does 920c | 1840s | 2250m on stock volts, and as I showed in my last post 950c | 1900s | 2250m totally game/bench stable @ 1.125v

You can also see there are guys with 1.000 VID cards can't hit 900 MHz on the core, and although may get to 950 MHz on say 0.0125v less than a higher VID card, still can't get much more than that when watercooled or with higher voltage.

I think core binning may not depend on VID but other properties too, and there is evidence of a MHz cap most can't push past regardless of VID/vGPU.

Mine only does 900Mhz Core (stock volts) and I dont know about the mem as I never bothered to OC them nor do I know how to test the mem for stability so it does not auto downclock. My max volts though is 1.150v

I had a 1.000 and a 1.038, neither would do over 880 at stock volts , nor over 930 maxed, even with asus bios mod. I have another one now that is supposed to do over 1000 so Im keen to give it a shot but I need to get the mcw80 fitted first.

Is there like a specific crysis or warhead benchmark loop that really stresses out the hardware that much ?

Benchmarks just don't stress the cards like gaming does. Furmark is just stupid, and works your PWM's and tests for max heat etc. Like I care how hot it's possible to get my card under those conditions. May as well put your tower in the oven and be like yo that's an awesome test my cards 200*C for 40 mins turning once while I cooked my dinner stable.

BFBC2 everything maxed 32MSAA is a good test, my personal fav is Atacama Desert as the the card has to render a lot of dust and smoke. Just play that for an hour or more and see how your card fares. Temps will climb slowly if you are on water and the system equilibrates to the CPU/VGA/Mobo heat output, and once it stabilizes thats when the stress test starts so to speak. If your OC is unstable (system too) that game will show it up pretty quickly.

I've only played the SP for BFBC2, is that a multiplayer map that I can load alone to testing/running around ?

your 1ghz video card how much voltage does it need to run at that speed?! and wich thermal grease have you used?

@ Demo - Yeah jump in multiplayer and find a map no one is on, or just game like me in populated maps but make your own squad and lock it so no one joins you or just don't select put me in a squad so you can game alone.

Unfortunately stock cooler. Benchable @about 940Mhz (no matter the voltage, it is just too hot).

got it, ..... when i was on stock cooling i was able to bench till 960mhz .... pretty good, by lc my 580 .... thinks aren't changed so much, 975mhz on unigine, but others benchs like 3dmv & 06 keep on crashing ..... this week i'mg gonna change thermal compound (i've used the one provided with the wb, Koolance) and see if i can go a little bit higher

Mine is 1.012 VID card and it needs 1.175V for 1000/2000/4800. Cooled with EK GPU Supreme, which is GPU ONLY WB (see below). Used OCZ Freeze thermal paste.

It's safe, as long as you keep it cool. I used up to 1.3V and it's still alive and kicking.

Agreed. Pushed up to 1.3V, but 1030MHz is just about all I can get with water cooling.

I started thinking that these DirecCu II 580's doesnt support 1.213.. i get exactly same clocks with stock bios (1.15v) and this modded bios (1.213v).
I need to find my multimeter to confirm that but im pretty sure that's how it is..

Maxed 980MHz on Unigine Heaven. Atleast it's totally stable @ 950MHz 1.125v, and that's fast enough for 24/7..

So it seems high voltages are in most cases useless with these cards.

How about the Crysis Ambush demo loop or anything in Crysis warhead? I didnt download Crysis 2 Multiplayer. As of now Im playing Dragon Age 2 and its not a good game to stress the card, thats why Im resorting to automated demo loops.

    something like 900mhz -> 2000ram 930mhz 2200mhz 950mhz 2300mhz
but u have to try since i've seen that 2300mhz ram speed is enough to handle diffrerents gpu core speed

Crysis Ambush is fine , go for it like 30/50 loops, if you are not stable, u will see it in few loops!

Alright, How about GDDR5 stability, I heard these things auto downclock if it goes to high.. would 2200Mhz on a GTX580 be like 100% attainable ?

    EDIT:

Looks like ambush is not even able to maintain a constant 90% GPU usage, probably its my Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz thats being a bottleneck to the GPU.

    EDIT2:

So today I was just stability testing on my GTX580 its been running at 900Mhz core for quite some time at stock VID of 1.088 and on my first run on heaven 2.5 I got a red colored lens flare rendering glitch, which I fails to repeat it self after i tried 10 more loops. Stability testing on videocard OC's are quite unsatisfying (haha!) using 1.1v is too much for me just to get 900Mhz core, maybe ill just dial down to 850Mhz core and undervolt my GPU.

I wonder how nvidia/evga came up to binning this chip at 1.088v, I mean if the chip can do 1.025v with 850Mhz core why is it binned at 1.088v

Your Q6600 is def bottlenecking the GPU. It doesn't nearly stress the gpu since you're bottlenecking hence theres no stability issue.

I speak of experience, BFBC2 Q6600 GTX480 Low fps, overclocked a crap load, barely any fps difference.

Went on my 980, GTX480, just simply incredible
