Any word on the cold boot issues the B2 boards had?
Is it fixed with the B3 rev.?

I have mine running for over 1 month now, and after the first major issues I had with the board, it seems to run ok now for the past 2 weeks.
Very rarely, I get this booting issue, where it hangs when trying to detect the IDE drives, but other than that, it runs fine now.

If the new B3 rev. seem to be a lot better and most issues are fixed with it, I might swap mine out for a new one.
I will buy another board sometime later to change another rig I have running, but I'm not sure if I'll spend this kind of money for a UD4 (which is way overpriced, IMO).

Exchanged my UD7 for an UD4 B3 yesterday, the UD7 was a bit overkill for my use.

at this moment my I7 2600k is running at 4500mhz Bios all AUTO.

went up to 4900 will cpu voltage set at 1.420 volt remaining bios settings AUTO.

my Corsair Dominators GT 2133 mhz 1.66 volt have a setting of 9 - 10 - 9 - 24

would appreaciate some feedback how the fine tune the memory to faster settings and still remain stable.

I'm not a Die hard overclocker, 4500mhz Cpu suits me Fine / but believe it should be able to fine the memory
modules a bit. (having totally no experience / advise is appreciated)

Try 8-9-8-24(CR1),with "Standard" in BIOS.
Post some pic and SPD.Run Pi 32M and later tight tRFC.

Hiya,

My UD4-B3 (along with a 2600K and a Kingston KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX kit) is arriving next Wednesday.

I've read several threads about this board and now I'm a bit worried since lots of people seem to have issues with the UD4/UD4-B3. I'm not sure whether I've made a good decision about the mobo.

Please reassure me that I've not made a bit of a blunder by opting for this board.

UD4 B3 is fine. Several people are very happy with it.
B2's of both UD4 and Ud5 were problematic (cold boot problems, LLC1 on UD5 B2 overshot, etc)

Some very happy people with that board (Andrea seems to like the F3B bios, and said LLC vdroop was improved).
I tested f3c in UD5 (not ud4) B3, and the bios is definitely a bit faster and seems to boot slightly faster than f1 (bclk is still 99.80 default though).

Do the b3 boards ship with pll overvoltage in bios defualt bios such as ud7 b3's. to avoid cold boot issues that plagued all of the beta bios with with ud4 b2's?
Do the b3 bios still just on or off for llc?

You know, what's niggling me is that quite a few people have switched from GA to ASUS. I don't really know whether switching from GA to ASUS is reasonable since ASUS boards seem to have lots of issues as well.

Basically, the grass isn't greener on the other side.
There are just as many people switching to Gigabyte as switching to Asus. The freeze at idle was driving asus users crazy, and I only saw one GB user who was freezing at idle at stock, and we were trying to troubleshoot it.

Another asus B3 user just had the first PCIE slot completely die, after a few days of use. Asus DID fix the cold boot problems MUCH sooner than GB, though. Although I'm happy with the progress GB has made; I flashed f3c on my B3 UD5, used the clear cmos button after power off, and the board didn't even double post at all. I was quite impressed. It does shut off after certain bios option changes, but I think all the boards do that.

I will say that the boot looping on the GB boards was the most annoying issue ever. That probably drove more people away than the asus idle BSOD's.

If someone gets a defective board, jumping ship may or may not help.

Got the UD3P board today but going to get the UD4-B3. Just because i want to have the CF opportunity and angled sata ports.

Guys be careful when enabling LLC at higher voltages on UD4-B3. The board is overvolting, not undervolting.
Tested with values above 1.58v.


LLC Enabled

Set in BIOS - DMM Idle - DMM Load

1.580v - 1.590v - 1.599v
1.590v - 1.600v - 1.612v
1.600v - 1.610v - 1.620v
1.640v - 1.660v - 1.665v


LLC Disabled

Set in BIOS - DMM Idle - DMM Load

1.600v - 1.595v - 1.590v
1.620v - 1.610v - 1.605v
1.640v - 1.630v - 1.620v


But the problem is when LLC is Disabled, I can't boot in Windows with same voltage (real) as LLC Enabled.

vDRAM is overvolting by 0.02v too when LLC is Enabled.

Thank you very much for those results.
But can you check what HWinfo32 (since cpu-z wont work) says about the idle and load voltages at lower voltages (like 1.40) tests with LLC enabled or disabled? (I don't want you to fry your cpu).
Because something doesn't seem right.

The vdroop at 1.60v should be *over* 0.1v at load, compared to BIOS (vdroop is a percent, so the higher the vcore, the more the vdroop).

I'll test it tomorrow. Voltages from 1.4v to 1.6v again but this time BIOS set - BIOS show - DMM idle - AIDA idle - DMM Load - AIDA load.
The difference between two choke legs is 0.1v, So I don't think the lower one is the vCore because it's always 0.1v lower then other/BIOS set no matter if LLC is enabled or disabled.
