    Good to see everybody else is taking about cross-flashing.

    My good old GB UD7 rev.1 is running with a X5650. It's doing fine, but they have stopped updating BIOS, apparently. Is it possible to cross-flash the GB UD7 rev.1 to a rev.2 BIOS?

    Highest Safe vcore for 980x

    I am currently running @ approx 1.408v, and I get the very occasional BSOD, error code xxxxxx101.

    Could I safely bump it up another .00625v, or more, or should I increase the bclk a little ?? or ??

    Using DVID, & LLC2, as well.

    Cheers

    You can give it as much volts as you want as long as temps are good and it's stable.
    I would give it a bump or two.

    Beware of the New Beta BIOS "Fe2" for the UD5 Board!!!! I tried the Fe2 BIOS in my UD5 Rev. 2.0 board and it wrecked the entire POST process, result in a red screen with a bunch of machine code errors listed, all of which made absolutely no sense. It took many, many attempts at rebooting to finally get the old BIOS to restore from the Dual-BIOS feature on the UD5 board. Do NOT use the Fe2 BIOS unless you want a disaster. I see now that Gigabyte has removed the Fe2 Beta BIOS from its web site. But if anyone had previously downloaded it - trash it immediately - don't use it!!! Best regards. TheBeagle

    the SATA6G firmware is always top of the line on GB boards and always updates with new BIOSes. i remember the UD5 rev 2.0 i had had firmware that wasn't even released yet.

    You might have more luck at tweaktown forums, or PM LSDMEASAP on these forums.

    Does anyone have the conversion chart for these BSOD Error Codes:

    0x00000124
    (0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFA80156FB028, 0x00000000BA000000, 0x0000000000400405)

    Thanks for any valid help that can be offered. TheBeagle

    Here are the codes that I have:

    0x101 = increase vcore
    0x124 = increase/decrease vcore or QPI/VTT...have to test to see which one it is
    0x0A = unstable RAM/IMC, increase QPI first, if that doesn't work increase vcore
    0x1E = increase vcore
    0x3B = increase vcore
    0x3D = increase vcore
    0xD1 = QPI/VTT, increase/decrease as necessary
    0x9C = QPI/VTT most likely, but increasing vcore has helped in some instances
    0x50 = RAM timings/Frequency or uncore multi unstable, increase RAM voltage or adjust QPI/VTT, or lower uncore if you're higher than 2x
    0x109 = Not enough or too Much memory voltage
    0x116 = Low IOH (NB) voltage, GPU issue (most common when running multi-GPU/overclocking GPU)

    Thanks DTR. I was running my i7-980X at 160 x 27 and it was bombing out about halfway through decoding a blu-ray movie. So I upped the Vcore to 1.40v and set the QPI at 1.34v. That seemed to do the trick. Many thanks for the reply posting. TheBeagle

    I have my 930 at 4Ghz easy - 1.28v ... but it will NOT go higher, not for hell. With the x6 multiplier for the Ram, I can pretty much keep that out of the equation.

    Well, to be exact, I can get to 4.2Ghz, but temps are +90c within seconds of Prime95 /HT enabled - but it takes 1.375 vcore to do that (1.35 @ 4.1Ghz). And this is watercooled. Tried reseating the heatsink several times thinking that could be it.

    Kinda given up now and sticking with the 4.0Ghz.

    Interesting question came to mind.

    Which overall (gaming) would be 'better' 4.5Ghz HT off /4 cores -vs- 4.0Ghz HT on/ 4 cores + 4 virtual cores??

    I know HT only gives 10-15% advantage, so I'm thinking 4.5Ghz is the way to go. What say ye all?

    Depends on the game played and what chip you are using. In general I would have to say the 4.5 HT off will be more beneficial. Do some benchmarks and see.

    Got bored and decided to push my system and see what it could do. Keep in mind these were very quick runs so some screens I didnt not save or did not have cpu-z open. So here you go enjoy. I know I did.
