As always, I've tested the modded BIOS and can gaurantee it works. For other P5Q mBIOSes, I can't gaurantee they will work because I don't own every single P5Q Series board to test. I can only say for the mBIOSes I'm unable to test I'm 98% certain they will work but should you choose to use any of the modded BIOSes you do so at your own risk of knowing sometimes BIOS flashes just go wrong. So have a recovery plan handy - just in case.

    P5Q Changelog:

    - Update memory table to P5Q Pro Turbo 602

    - Update memory table to P5Q Pro Turbo 602
    - Update P6 table to P5Q Premium 2406
    - Update Marvell O-ROM to 1.1.0.L73
    - Update intel O-ROM to v9.6.0.1014

    P5Q-E Changelog:

    - Update memory table to P5Q Pro Turbo 602
    - Update P6 table to P5Q Premium 2406
    - Update Marvell O-ROM to 1.1.0.L73
    - Update marvell PXE to v6.60.2.3
    - Update intel O-ROM to v9.6.0.1014

    P5Q Deluxe Changelog:

    - Update memory table to P5Q Pro Turbo 602

    P5QL Pro Changelog:

    - Update memory table to P5Q Pro Turbo 602
    - Update P6 table to P5Q Premium 2406

    P5QL-EM Changelog:

    - Update memory table to P5Q Pro Turbo 602
    - Update P6 table to P5Q Premium 2406

As for overclocking potential.. no idea. It should be better than any vanilla BIOS. Its also worth using these mBIOSes (where applicable) if you are experiencing SSD compatibility problems, the updated intel O-ROM should fix most.

A bit off-topic, but it's your thread so correct me if I'm off-base:
I just noticed you are running a Sandy Bridge machine. How is that Asrock board? I ask because I will eventually be going there, but haven't a clue what board to get this time (not that there is much to choose from until the B3's are all in stock). I have done well with my current EVGA P55 board (which I got at a very good discount on sale) but their P67 boards are awol for now. A Maximus IV would be nice but they are too bloody expensive

    Hi ket.
Just wondering, how did you fix it?
The last time I bought a "working pull" board was years ago, some BH6 back in 2002(?) and it was, of course DOA (Homie back at motherboardrepair.com was able to revive the chipset (which he said was bad) as well as doing a cap job...

The seller was of course, a jackass and a liar....if I had known better, I would have filed a claim with paypal, advertising fraud...

You can hardly trust anything, these days...
Luckily, the last qx9650 seller who was selling chips, was indeed selling them new (including one that did 4 ghz at 1.28v to someone i sold the chip to later), but my P5w board (4 pin connector) burnt almost fully not long after getting the new chip...thus now I'm on SB.

(funny thing is, the board still works..if you can get a solid connection on the 4 pin, but its risky...may sell it as "not working" if I can be bothered....might just trash it...shipping costs won't be worth the price I may get...)

My Extreme4 is awesome. I've not had any problems with it and as of UEFI 1.6A its a damn near perfect board to work with

Well, on that note I thought I fixed the board... until I plugged in the second memory stick. Turns out DIMM banks A1 and A2 are borked.. seller deffinately bullted. Not sure how I'm gona fix the DIMM banks yet. Apart from the DIMM banks though I've managed to fix the rest of the board.

It seems I can't get my money back on the POS P5Q Deluxe I had to get off ebay. Trying to raise a dispute is absolutely useless as the transaction ID paypal always says is "invalid". Trying to come to a reasonable solution with the seller is hopeless too.

    Short story:

Got a P5Q Deluxe off ebay described as good condition and full working order, the board is neither. When I opened the box it looked like somebody had kicked it round a garage like a football. Most filthy disgusting condition you can imagine a mainboard to be in, complete with bent semi broken heatsink fins, etc.

In light of all of the above I am NAMING AND SHAMING the seller, that seller is; natasza7979

ED - Lovely. It seems like the seller has done a runner/blocked me. My last reply to his email got spat back at me through the ebay system saying it couldnt be delivered.

E BAY is ALL towards the buyer now, the seller cannot slate even after you slate them !

You will win the case and get a refund in the end after the dispute is filed and then escalated.

If I were you I would have bought a Giga at this stage not an Asus, pump it to 500FSB and forget about it and use it !

Those are the last releases that will be done for the P5Q boards (by me anyway), they have had their day and the BIOSes are as updated as they possibly can be.

    Thxs for that.

the P5Q dlx is still a very good Board for the Socket775 and an Q9550 is cheap and with 3,5-4GHz as fast as any other CPU. So no need for an upgrade right now.

Maybe we will see an other update when there are some newer Intel and/or marvell o-Rom or PXE.

What about the UEFI for the P5Q Series?

No. There will be no further updates from me. The platform is extremely mature and not getting any better.

The BIOS update was successful, but did you clear the CMOS after the flash?
You're always supposed to clear the CMOS with the jumper (or a clear cmos button, if it exists on the board). Each one, with the power supply turned off or unplugged.

why should i clear the cmos ? I never clear the cmos after flashing a new bios. Never needed it.

    How to check now?

The bios looks exactly the same as the previous one.

That sounds like a OS problem. Trim support is usually added via the driver/OS update.

Hey Ket... how to check my bios update?

I have flashed the bios (ur newest dlx bios) and all settings are the same as before.

Do I have the newest bios or was my update not successfull?

The changes I made can't be "seen" just by going into the BIOS. All my changes are things which go on "behind the scenes", you can't see them, but they are there

    1. Yep
    2. Don't know
    3. P6 is CPU compatibility etc, intel rom is for RAID/SSD improvements.

CMOS clear is for completeness to help avoid any quirks, its not absolutely necessary.
