Sorta makes me glad I didn't preorder Crysis 2. I was so ready for this game. I even had a small system update planned to cope with it, but not now.

Crytek has sold out. It's incredibly sad too. Console gaming makes money, but last I checked, PC gaming is again on the rise due to the success of Steam. For them to abandon their core PC community and try to break into the world of Halo Fanboiz is not only a bad business move, but it's also an incredibly selfish one. They're trying to compete with the big boys in console gaming. The issue though is that THEY ARE THE BIG BOYS IN PC GAMING, AND THEY'RE ABANDONING IT!!!

Somebody slap some sense into Cevat Yerli. He's making a really bad move here.

The screenshots you have provided orangekiwii remind me a lot of Unreal Tournament 3
Is it me or does Crysis actually look nicer than Crysis 2?
Yes I do know that some parts of Crysis are starting to look dated (texture wise), but it still looks very pretty and with FSAA and rumours of config tweaks it does look lovely.
I maybe wrong (and yes I truly do hope I am wrong), but the more I see of Crysis 2, the more it appears there is limited scope with what can be achieved with the image quality on PC's which can push the pixels.

Patch should be available on launch day apparently, think NVIDIA PhysX "add-ons" in the past.

Forgive me for sounding like I am trolling for the sake of being negative.... but what is the point in that?
Surely if it is ready for launch day then why isn't it already included within the game?!?

The game has to go gold few weeks before it actually hits the shelves, but they can still work on the add-on and finish just couple of days before the launch. Digital distribution has it's advantages.

And if they can incorporate some counter-measures against piracy with the patch, then it will further delay the pirates from enjoying the full potential of the game. But that is rarely the case.

so i dug up this interview from next-gen on Yerli talking about Crysis 2 PC graphics:
    February 8, 2011
    http://www.next-gen.biz/features/crysis-2-interview
Crysis 2 will have a PC version that’s a PC game. We’re going to push it as much as the engine can take. It’ll be at least as beautiful as Crysis, but the context is different. It’s New York. Not a jungle, but an urban jungle. You have to understand that the budget for Crysis was much lower than for Crysis 2. We could spend much more on Crysis 2 because we expected to sell more through multiplatform development. So PC gamers will get a better game out of that; it isn’t just take, it’s also give.
Now, it’s more like we want to give you the best PC experience with current high-end equipment. So if you bought the last high-end graphics card, you’re going to get a blast out of it. Likewise, the minimum-spec experience will be of a far higher quality than Crysis was.
so pretty much everything he said in that interview about a month ago came true

I think it "looks" fine but it's just too static. After playing BC2 for months i expect the environment to be more dynamic and deformable. In Crysis 2 the environment is just an unchanging background picture. Might as well be playing streetfighter.

I agree. BC2 has spoiled me. The environment in-game feels alive, and Crysis 2 just... doesn't. I'm really hoping that the final product will be better. I don't want it to be another Halo: Black Ops. Crysis is about defining the segment, not trying to fit in.

BC2 certainly nailed the immersion factor. Even though the building damage and what not is only pre-programmed, it still is well done. And understandable that having real physics for these things would be nigh-impossible for an FPS MP game.

Indeed, crysis2 had much more potential for deformable tarain, even more then BF:BC2... imagine punching trought a wall with maximum strengh right behind another player, dust every where, you go instantly into cloak mode and make stealth take down.....

From that I gather, everything is flat with piss poor; texture, AA.

I might even say that BF:BC2 looks better than this whereas one I play for fun and other for its visual. Seriously they should of done what BF3 is doing and just completely abandon DX9 altogether, but instead they hatched out this sad port after all that touting. I swear everytime I see a comparison to the XBOX version the game looks uglier on PC, and no miracle patch is going to save this game.

The Xbox version looks like compared to the PC version. WTF was Crytek thinking making this game for consoles and then porting it to PC, and we all know that most console ports look ugly due to limitations on console.

To sum it up, an epic failure for us PC gamers. Graphics arn't everything, I'd say only a small percentage, but it was nice to have at least one developer pushing its games to the graphics limit, much like they did with Crysis 1.

we shouldnt (pc gamers) have to take screen shots in order to tell there is a visual difference between the pc version and the consoles. it should be obvious!

the whole thing is an extended rumor and based on the mp demo. I'm giving them a slight benefit of the doubt and waiting before rage quitting

Good graphics don't make a game good. Just saying.

I'm going to buy the game. Why? Because I'm a gamer and I like it.

I could live with the dx9 graphics if the game was any fun to play. The multiplayer demo was very poor, it's bad compared to PC FPS games from the late 90s let alone newer ones. The game is pretty much the perfect example of how to ruin a FPS.

    It has:
    Unbalanced perks and unlocks.
    Very limited weapons.
Instant knife kills by pressing a button.
    Tiny maps.
    Tiny max player limit.
Everything kills you almost instantly even in armor mode.
    Killstreaks.
