    Batch # L044B441. S/N 35042116A1807

This chip is totally different from my first chip. The only way to get it semi stable @ 5G was to relax the ram timings to 9-9-9-28, took a lot of tweaking in bios as well. Runs about 8 degrees hotter than my first chip with same voltages. Max boot is 53X 32 M stable.

Congrats to all nice chips i have to try 5ghz

guys for those using SP1 of W7 my friend OC Nub, The Real 7 noticed that its harder to get stable on SP1 need more vcore notches...like 4...i took it out and its totally right

anyone is using SP1 ? i was a big fan of it it also give more GFlops but its true in pay off less stabilty

    cheers all

SP1 has AVX enabled, so it uses all your CPU has to offer. Hence higher stress levels.

    +1.

I love seeing 120GFlops in IBT though. Makes it harder to get stable, but its 110% stable once you make 10 passes.

Is there a way to disable AVX? Will it affect gaming performance in any way having it enabled in SP1?

Using older Linpack library that doesn't utilise AVX is one of the ways.
But you can't really disable it entirely, no.
And it would only affect games if they supported AVX, and none do right now.

I think you have to manually download it anyways. There isn't a version with the latest linpack library that you can download. I did install the new ones into my IBT.

I guess I was more concerned with something in the background of the OS using it, just because it's enabled doesn't mean it's constantly in use right?

Right. Same as extra CPU cores, for example. They don't hurt if they aren't used.

    No screenshot for these:
    4.7 GHz - 1.352v load - 20 min. prime stable then a crash
    4.7 GHz - 1.360v load - more than 4 hours prime stable

    But here's one:
4.9 GHz - 1.432 load - more than a few min. prime stable. The voltage isn't tuned, so it may go lower.

L047B217 2500K from Newegg. Load temps are mid 60s, water cooled.

Without all the background apps running I get just over 70 GFlops in LinX.

I have almost the exact same system. Cpu batch too. Any chance you could post your bios settings. I am having trouble getting stable at 4.8. It will fail at 18/20 on Linx. Thanks

Depends what you use the system for. 3 hours LinX/ATX stable results in a bluescreen within 1/2 hour to 45 minutes of rendering with 3ds Max unless I bump up VCORE. Same holds for some encoding.

Damn they sent me an L051B142, should I open it and give it a whirl or return it for another batch?

All batches are hit and miss. Some have amazing clockers, and then in the same batch some that cant hardly do 4.5GHz without a lot of volts. Same for all batches so far.
    Rig 1:
    ASUS P8Z77-V
    Intel i5 3570K @ 4.75GHz
    16GB of Team Xtreme DDR-2666 RAM (11-13-13-35-2T)
    Nvidia GTX 670 4GB SLI

    Rig 2:
    Asus Sabertooth 990FX
    AMD FX-8350 @ 5.6GHz
    16GB of Mushkin DDR-1866 RAM (8-9-8-26-1T)
AMD 6950 with 6970 bios flash

Yamakasi Catleap 2B overclocked to 120Hz refresh rate
    Audio-GD FUN DAC unit w/ AD797BRZ opamps
Sennheiser PC350 headset w/ hero mod

Very true indeed but I could find no good results at all for this batch, in fact the only reference I found to L051 here was that people were selling them after testing them. No 1155 list I found had any L051 results, GeorgeVasil above is the first nice newer batch cpu I have seen. George, please test a nice high multi and put my mind to rest.
