    CRTC gets the big toe

So for those of us in Canada who are getting raped by the CRTC can now breath easy. Harper's government will overrule a recent decision by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) that effectively kills unlimited Internet-pricing packages — unless the telecommunications regulator backs down first.

Will this pan out as I hope. Not so sure. Do I hope i pans out? Definitely!

    What do you guys think?

    or google CRTC.

w00t! That's a WIN. Glad I voted for his party.

I saw Harper's house in Calgary once when visiting someone who turned out to live next to him... the guy definitely isn't one of those people who live in a world of ridiculous wealth who has no touch with reality anymore. It's not a hovel by any stretch, but it's just a nicer mid-level home instead of a palatial mansion that far too many politicians seem to enjoy. You'd never guess that the guy who lived there ran the country as a day job.

i worked for him...ish i cleaned the Wilson house [Meech lake (as in the accord)]. he is quite normal. he prefers Coke Zero and his wife is a bit annoying. but hey, she'd have to be for him to be "normal".

At the moment it's more like the country runs itself while he's pointing in the general direction of things. The fact that this crap got so out of hand is testament to Harper's inability to be a proactive leader.

    THIS

I thought the same thing when I first read about the decision.

The Harper government hasn't seemed to care what the Canadian people want prior to this event. It looks to me like a gambit to garner popular support running up to an election. Still, I'll take it.

when I saw the thread I thought it had something to do with my friend big toe from ocz. oh well. lets hear it for julian, ricky, bubbles, trinity and neil peart and colin mckay. and the 520w psu with the adjustable pots. the powersteam 520w and the ddr booster and all the hours and headaches big toe has attributed to this forum.
and canada's amazing hospital benefits. maybe this energy should be focused on how canadians and big toe from ocz have made it better for the world of xtreme overclocking. quit whining. canada is 2nd 2 none in my book.

The CRTC is an entity of its own - for the government to react this quickly actually means that they probably got started the day they heard about the decision (seriously, a lot of red tape a bureaucratic BS involved, plus those people do have limited schedules for new items). The government doesn't tell the CRTC what to say/do. It's like the FCC in the states - you don't blame the president when the FCC comes to a bad decision. You blame him about a year later when he has failed to repeal it.

HOLY ing man!!! to think i had no idea the liberals were in on this petition. HA! it figures. they're willing to take the necessary steps to satisfy Canadians but at our own expense! that's stupid! send 20$ if you can! why would i want to send YOU MY 20$ that i'm saving just to get more out of a service that im already twice as much for half as much service!!! do Canadians a gratuity you guys foot the bill with security. It' doesn't cost 20$ (If you can) to "Spread the word on social media"!!

I tell you the first government the actually works for the people (none of this new tax/tax hike or both including any variant or derivative there of) will get get my vote guaranteed. These guys get paid 150,000$+ a year and they're only legally required to be in the house 1 day a year. that's it. Here's a good political strategy, work for us. start with our internet!

Now all the Canadians need is either the bandwidth caps lifted or a major ISP like Verizon to move up the boarder and increase competition.

Ultimately, TechSavvy, Acanac and all these other "wholesale" ISPs are running off of Rogers and Bell,
and virtually can't be "competitive" in the long term to be beneficial to Cosumers (as the situation is right now).

Wow I cant believe the quickness of the government to react to an unfair internet pricing scheme wasnt the top priority of choosing my political party, thank you for opening my eyes to the real issues.

I'm not surprised, the more inside guys bell & Rogers has on the inside the bigger their paycheck.
Sure enough i hear the CRTC has requested some 6 months to consider the government's ultimatum.... and the government has accepted.< i can't guarantee that, that's just what I've heard.

It's not over. The CRTC delayed the decision until May. The CRTC will fight tooth and nail for their masters at Bell and Rogers.

Canada is certainly has a decent standard of living. But our so-called broadband internet is way below second, I think we were 8th last I checked.

Re OCZ: Big toe certainly made some exceptional contributions. Ryder however didn't do right by me, nor did my Powersteam 520w(total steamer) nor my VX(Very Xtremely dead). I'll never buy OCZ again.
