I think I have everything I need now except USB drives now, but I have some spare HDDs that I can test with.
EDIT: If it does turn out to be kaput (which it won't!), I got all of this stuff for such low prices that I could probably make back the money from reselling.

I assumed so.
I was going to use them to avoid having to power hard disks.
I was under the impression it didn't boot from usb..

Any news on the BIOSes?
Finally managed to scavenge enough offcuts to be able to cut my brackets. ^_^
Should have them done some time this week.
Sorry for the terrible pictures. My camera batteries are about 5 years old, and don't hold charge well at all, so I had to use my phone.
Very very nice Jacka
Screw going up next to the expansion slots was interfering with the VGA connector on the other Rage XL, so I just filed down the plastic until I reached the pins, covered them with some electrical tape, and unfortunately the screw is still in the way. I can fit it in with a slight bend in the screw, but I think I'll file down the screw a little when I get some spare time.
woah- thats amazing Jacka
Nice work!

nice work jack! you win the XS award for most elaborate tx3 mounting
I can't wait for you to get those bad boys up and running

Instead of filing down the screw, why don't you bring all of them up higher on the threads? It would would raise that top board up a bit but more air flow the better for that bottom one.
Also can you post where you got those all thread? I might copy your design a bit there.![]()
edit: while you are going through all thris trouble, rig up a fan to blow air right on the chipset next to the video card. It gets scorching hot.
I just bought some non-rechargeable batteries so I can take some pictures for you.
Transferring, editing and uploading them now, will edit this post when they're done.
EDIT: Here we go.
EDIT EDIT: Click for bigger.
Close ups of the mounting. You can see the 2 parts of the bracket don't line up properly. There's a 1.5mm rectangle spacer that fits fine, but the 1.0mm bracket part didn't fit perfectly (due to my stupidity), but I just filed the holes slightly and they fit like a glove now.
Chipset heat sinks with 50mm fan on. The fan is at the wrong orientation for the power to plug in neatly, but it's just screwed in with M4x20 so I can change that when I come to it.
PSU wired up and ready for connectors to be crimped and put into...
These!
VGA connector filed to wires
Screw filed as much as I can be bothered with doing at the moment
Filed card on top board to show where the screw is.
When put in the bottom board, you can see that it fits but has quite a noticable bend in the screw. I think I'll file the screw down further at the weekend.
Nice picture of the whole thing.
