and which voltage do you have load? The P67A-GD55 which i tested overvolts ~0.05v at load.
btw please test Prime 26.4, this is more stressful as IBT and LinX.
Same here P67A-GD65 overvolts alot 1.34v bios 1.38/1.4v on load in some cases! Have been onto Msi and there saying it will be fixed in the next released bios! Am testing prime now 960k custom! Currently on test 11! 1.34v in bios!5Ghz! How long would you give it! I have work at 3 and dont like having the pc on when am not there with watercooling and that! 1.34v 5Ghz just fail in prime 1hr and 30mins in thread 8! I will try 1.35v later!

LinX with SP1 in Windows 7 decimates Sandy Bridge CPUs. Takes significantly more voltage for me now to be LinX stable than it did without SP1 and significantly more than it takes for Prime 95 8 hour stability. Temps also go up 15-18C higher on all cores in LinX w/ SP1 vs. Prime 95 or anything else I've tried![]()

Got mine 5 ghz 1.4v game stable, HT on....boy was it flying....7.6 sec 1m superpi....even at just 4 ghz, in Morrowind, I gained about 40 FPS over my QX9650 at 4 ghz....and I think MW is single threaded too....
I didn't mess around to see if I could lower voltages or not though. My temps in prime95 small FFT, 26.4 64 bit were just TOO high....88C on cores 2 and 3 on a Venemous-X (mounting problem??) after about 20 seconds...so I quickly closed the test and went to play games instead. The fact that it lasted even that long at temps that high is a good thing though..I was actually expecting an error or bluescreen in 10 seconds...didn't get any...just high temps...
PLL overvoltage was enabled...
Using garbage memory timings since I've never had an i7 before...
I only knew to keep about 0.5v between memory and vtt(QPI??) voltage, and keep memory at 1.5-1.6 and vtt at 1.1...that's the limit of my knowledge so far....
I'm sure I can shave off some time on Spi when I learn how to use the memory settings....
The fact that it lasted even that long at temps that high is a good thing though...
I'll worry about how low I can go with voltages later...not in a hurry...
Not gona blow up my chip with priming at those temps...

BTW anyone know why my Venemous X swivels (even more than my TRUE black) even when i apply the 70pound screw? The mount is as perfect as possible...but it seems like the pressure lever is barely applying any pressure at all..

I've got some results to report:
My 2500k is linX stable (20 runs, all memory used) at 4.9ghz using a vcore of 1.385. I'm using the latest linx from the first post of the linX thread on this forum, but I'm not running windows 7 sp1 yet.
At 1.385 vcore, my setup is not prime stable.
I tried to recode some movies with Handbrake. Handbrake is the most cpu intensive program I run (other than benchmark tests) on my computers, with the usage monitor showing 100% utilization on all four cores while running.
At 4.9 ghz at my linX stable vcore of 1.385, I bluescreened with a stop 124 error, which in this scenario I interpret as insufficient vcore. So I bumped the vcore up two notches to 1.395, and I recoded two rather long movies without any issues (it took about 7 hours).
So for my purposes, I would have to assume linX (sans SP1) is not an accurate assessor of system stability. Now even at 1.395 vcore, I'm not prime stable, so perhaps prime stability is overkill for my needs. I plan on downloading SP1 this weekend and seeing what my new linX stable vcore turns out to be.
Just to be clear, to enable AVX instructions on these chips, one must install windows 7 SP1 (for which there is a link a few pages back in this thread) and install the latest linX (from the first post of the linX thread on this forum). Is this correct? Any other actions that must be taken?

Ok, thanks Tool. I am eager to see what my linX stable vcore turns out to be with SP1, and if my temps will be too high to run at such a voltage on air cooling (I'm using a venomous-x currently and the linX temps without SP1 were peaking in the mid to high 60's).
By the way, does anyone know if the new AVX instructions will speed up video encoding?

It's not dual channel that makes it 1600, it's dual data rate. 800mhz is correct cause that is the ddr clock rate. Commands are sent only on one side of the clock whereas data is sent on both sides of the clock, hence the DDR.
As far as AVX temperatures, it should be no surprise why it's running hotter, you essentially are using twice the amount of ALU transistors that you would've been using in SSE. AVX has 256 bit registers whereas SSE only has 128bit registers.
I do this stuff for a living... it sorta takes the fun out of it.

Technically there are only 4 cores, but with HT on, load is calculated in a rather strange way. Load is calculated by how much the front end (fetch/decode) is being taxed because typically instructions coming in is equal to how loaded the entire chain is.
HT takes advantage of the fact that most applications can use every execution unit the chip has by faking another core and fetching instructions from another thread. However, linpack is designed to max out the execution units with each thread. This means you have two threads competing for the exact same resources so you can only serve each thread at 50% utilization, but in reality your core is maxed out because pretty much everything is being put to use.
I do this stuff for a living... it sorta takes the fun out of it.

Finally got Prime95 stable at a relatively low voltage at 4.8GHz.
I left the Power Features on Energy Efficient. Also, I had to use a fixed CPU VCore (without it I had trouble booting in windows because using offset mode with LLC causes double VCore compensation). During the Prime95 small FTTs run the cpu-z vcore read 1.416V for almost 99% of the time with a couple of spikes to 1.428.
I tried everything I could to stabilize at a CPU PLL of 1.700, finally had to settle for 1.750.
Memory is Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB CL8 DDR-1600, slightly overclocked to DDR3-1866 with slightly looser timings (VIN1 in the screenshot is VDIMM).
At idle CPU-Z shows 1.368Vcore but my core speed is at 1600MHz with a 16x multi and HWMonitor shows a beautiful 6W power draw from the processor with temps on the cores roughly 6-7c above ambient. All in all this might be my 24/7 OC, when I run the lightwave renderer power draw never exceeds 95W and temps stay in the mid-60's on the cores. Very fast, cool and quiet too. Initial tests tonight show I may be able to lower VCORE as well.
