Ummm. I think you are confusing your core names with "code names". For one the vanilla board is completely different from the classified just have a look at the two boards real close. All 6 core westmere desktop parts are codenamed "gulftown" they are in essence all based off the westmere core regardless of whether or not intel decided to call them the server or desktop part.

Westmere is the Xeon variant of Gulftown. To make matters worse I have a confirmation of the turbo multiplier working fine on a vanilla X58 board from EVGA. That's absolutely nuts that I cannot run turbo on this board yet vanilla X58 can do it fine.
