3DMark01 Madness by Hollywood & der8auer (Hall of Fame inside!)

    Hello

Yesterday i met with Hollywood in south-west Germany for some 3Dmark2001 action Our goal was to gain two good SLI scores and maybe also Single-GPU.

    Hardware:

    2x E8600 (Q822A435)
    4x Rampage Extreme
6x MSI GTX275 Lightning (vMEM, OCP, vGPU Mod)

    90l LN2

First we set up a system using my best RE and my E8600 (pretested here: Link). I don't know what happened but i coudln't boot the system. The LCD poster just showed "PWR_OFF". So i had to use another RE which was completely untested. Unfortunately it was crappier than i expected

Anyway the System was running a bit later. We had no Software-Tool to raise the Voltage of two Lightning GPUs so we had to do the hardmods. Sadly we coudln't go over 1,35vGPU. Everything else above straightly caused OVP. But it was enough for 975 MHz on both cards.

    Result:

    12th on HWBot: http://hwbot.org/community/submission/2102137_

Link to the Screenshot of the Result

Later we tried to get a good single GPU result. CPU passed 01 at 6411 MHz and the GPU at 1350MHz. Unfortunately we coudln't do a complete run because we were unable to boot after a bit Anyway we know the components are capable and we can maybe do the run in a bit

And finally some impressions of the day

Maybe the Board didn't like the name of the settings?

Did you have problems with two sli bridges connecting the cards? Last time I tried that I had screen corruption.

    Oh, and 6x GTX275 Lightning =

Great work guys! Is that a custom vRAM/vreg plate you have on the 275's? What do you have under it, regular thermal paste?

    Thank you!

No, that's the retail cooler by MSI. Here you can find pics of it: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/M...ghtning/4.html

First of all congratulations for the score! Too bad not having a cpu (or board) to followed!
What voltage you used to achieve 1350MHz on a single card?

We had it running at 1.6 vGPU, 2.15 vMem.
There should be a lill bit more MHz in that card.
Tested some other cards with same voltage, but this one is rly great.

EDIT: And hello to you guys at XS, my first post over here!

Today i've testet 2 more Lightnings. These cards behave a lill different.
One of these got no CB. But it just run 1280/1350.
The other one got a CB at around 160°C and completet the benchmark at the same speed as the other one.
Will test CB on my best card tomorrow.
1350 was at around 140°C. I am limited by my GPU pot.
Could not keep the temps stable and low douring a test.

Love the frost pictures! Good luck trying again for single GPU!
Do you have any clue why the REX wouldn't start? Mine gave me trouble also this week and will not start, the screen says PWR_OFF as well when I boot it. Doesn't post on air or SS.

    Thanks

Yes it's a insane CPU but as you read on the result - i can't go higher with the voltage. I don't know what causes the problem

    e.g. benching wPrime:

CPU runs smooth at 1,68vCore but if i go at 1,7 or 1,75 (just higher) the system instantly shuts down if it's on load. Means i click to start the 32m run and -> black screen and system is shut down...

I also tried 06 CPU Test and exactly the same problem. It starts to load the test but instead of running i get black screen an system shuts down.

    Any ideas about that?

It looks like OCP yes but is there like an OCP mod for the 4-Way board?

edit: Or is there something in BIOS i've to set and i'm too stupid to see it?

Interesting to know, thanks! Because i kinda doubt that there is an OCP of the board or
