I'm going to upgrade to an SSD in the next month and I think that will give me the biggest upgrade "feel" out of anything that I could change. Past that, if I'm going to upgrade I want a significant higher amount of cores for crunching. otherwise, i would have gone the i7 route a year ago
Well for a $550.00 upgrade I cant go wrong brother. Been on 4 cores for way too long. Also...the electrical savings from my current rig will be nice to see. Then when the new socket comes out in 3rd quarter, I might see another upgrade. I'll just have to wait & see.
